Proposal Shoot Advice
Hey yall, I’m taking my friends proposal pictures this weekend and I’m super nervous because I haven’t done anything like this yet! Anyone have any tips for me? It’s at 3:30pm and it’ll be shaded by a fire pit at a lake house.

@Lindsay Wells agree with all the above! I always get nervous before proposals too! To add to what Lindsay said (and it may be too late for this now) if possible, have the groom send a video or pictures of the space, pointing out exactly where he plans to be and which direction he is going to be facing when he gets down on one knee. Or vice versa- you go to the location and tell him where you’ll hide and the best direction for him to face etc. I try to position myself so that I’m seeing both of their profiles but if I can’t, I want to try to be where I can see the girl’s face- so have the guy’s back to me rather than the girls. I hope that makes sense!
Brenizer Method
I just wanted to get everyones thoughts on the Brenizer method? do you know about it? If not, its a method whereby you take a picture of your subject in sharp focus and then proceed to shoot several pictures around the subject without refocusing, then stitching the photos together in lightroom to create a huge bokeh panoramic shot

Interesting! I’ve never heard of this method before. Would love to watch a video on how this is done. Will have to go research it more. Have you tried it yourself?

@Tiahna L you crushed this wedding! so many gorgeous shots and it’s not often that outdoor weddings are timed perfectly with the light! 😍 I kept finding myself smiling or laughing while editing these. The bride (and little flower girl) cracked me up! So much emergent and silly faces! And I’ve never seen more amazing dancing shots! It looked like just a really fun and great group of people to capture and party with!

@Laurel Stacy thank you! 🥰☺️
Whats Your Favorite Lighting?
This weekend I had the privilege of shooting a wedding with @Causey Williams at the stunning Huitt Farms! The weather held off, thank the Lord and created soft even lighting for most of the day. The sun came out during ceremony, I caught myself getting exited for the beautiful sunlight that was filling in the trees/shadows behind the couple, providing separation of subject and background, giving it a dynamic feel with depth and texture. Probably some of my favorite lighting!? Whats your "favorite" lighting to work with? I've included a screen grab of a RAW photo to show an example! ps: peep the flower girl, she was cracking me up 😆

I’m obsessed with this kind of light! I mean, if golden hour could exist all day I’d take that, but otherwise give me ALLL the sunshine! I use to want overcast light because it felt safe but over the years I’ve grown to embrace even midday sun. I love diffusing it through trees or playing with shadows. Overcast light I now almost find trickier bc it’s not as obvious where the sun actually is and sometimes I feel like it looks “muddy” in post.
