🍿 Why Consistency Matters (Even When Your Only Member Is Your Mom)
Saturday movie time: Julie & Julia. one of my favs and it's secretly a movie about building a community. if you haven't seen it, Julie decides to cook all 524 recipes from Julia Child's cookbook in 365 days. and blog about every single one. her first reader was her mom. that's the part i love most. she kept cooking and posting for an audience that didn't exist yet. day 12. day 40. day 90. mostly quiet. but then people started showing up. not because one post blew up. because she'd been there every day when they arrived. that's why consistency matters on Skool. people do stay where someone has clearly been showing up for a while. which brings me to the flame 🔥 yes, there is a lot of discussion about the flame: to flame or not to flame. in the Hackathon i keep nagging you about it: - 10 activities a day on Skool. - a like, a comment, a post, - anything counts. and i know some of you are thinking "what does a little flame have to do with getting 100 members or success on Skool" everything, actually. the flame is your Julie blog. it's proof that YOU ARE TAKING IT SERIOUSLY. because the people who get to 100 members aren't the most talented ones. they're the ones who kept showing up on the boring days. i know that most of you have a job, a family, a life. BUT 10 activities is something you can do on a coffee break. Julie had a day job too, and she still boned a duck at midnight. so while you watch, ask yourself: 1. when does Julie want to quit, and what keeps her going? 2. Julia gets told no on her book. what would you have done at the first no? 3. Julie cooks after work. where's your "after work" slot for your business? 4. if you committed to your community for a full year, not a month, what would you do differently starting Monday? grab popcorn. come back and drop your answer in the comments: what day of your flame are you on? ⬇️ p.s. i changed my plans here to annual only: Premium at $9/ VIP at $90. you must commit or it does not work.

Okay, I have to watch this movie! I remember it, of course, but never saw it. I love the consistency moral of the story. I reached my 365 days months ago (April, I think?) and keep hanging on!🔥
I spread myself too thin and got punched in the gut
i am not complaining. totally understand the person. yet, it hurts. the situation: i registered to participate in the summit. did not submit, what i was suppose to submit by the deadline. the complication is the host agreed to be a speaker at my event. this morning, i got a message: - i am now removed from the summit (fair) - i am also removed from the host's community (okay) - she has removed herself from speaking at my event (ouch!) again, i understand, why i was removed from the summit. but the last two... logically, i understand. but emotionally, fucking hard. oh, well. i am not looking for emotional support (maybe just a little). i think everyone has the right to do what they want to do. and face the consequences. me - i would not do it like that. but, business is business, nothing personal. my lesson learnt, be extra careful with what i agree to do for other people - speaking, participation, help. it's my problem - i overestimate my capacity, grossly. so, i am going to play "collect 100 No's game". which means, every external opportunity, invite i get, i am gonna say NO or I NEED TO THINK, before i say yes. anyone else struggle with overcommitment?

@Lidia Axe Yes, this is the heart of the matter. I understand what happened, but yes, life is more complicated than yes/no or black/white. There are always shades (which drives my husband crazy). I'm happy that you show us this side of you so we all know we're not alone.❤️ But sorry you had to go through it!
Failure Wednesday Celebration 🎉
since there are bunch of new ppl, let me explain: - everybody celebrates wins. but not many i have seen celebrate failures. yet, failures are not optional, they are a MUST if you want to achieve any sort of business success. - also, you hear a lot of successes - in Skoolers, in other communities. ppl are eager to share amazing things that happened. so, you might fall into the trap of "survival bias". if only thing you hear is wins, you might believe it is a norm. it is not. win is an outlier. - finally, people love to share a hero journey story. because it's good script. it's likable. "things were bad, i took a chance, things became great - i am winner now". nothing wrong with it. or? so, we are here share raw, pure FAILURES - not covered with the success story. as is. === now, let's get clear - what is FAILURE in our playbook? - it's an action you did and the result was not what you expected/wanted to be and what failure is NOT? - when you don't take action - post, call, launch - that's not failure. that's STALLING in our playbook. and that needs to be fixed, not celebrated. finally, why do we CELEBRATE failure? failure means you took action. - action deserves celebration. - courage to take action deserves celebration. - courage to share your failure deserves celebration. === time to share ⬇️ ps please, please, please share your wins in Wins&Failures category any day, every day. we need to hear wins as well.

@Lidia Axe It really bugs me when they delete comments that are just genuinely asking questions to really get at the crux of things. I mean, I understand the impulse, but I've found over the decades that helping people understand the REAL pros and cons of a choice (because there are ALWAYS both) is better overall than pretending it's all peaches and cream for everyone at all times and in all circumstances.

@Lidia Axe Yes, and that's one of the things that irks me. It's not like we're getting this for free (you especially...I'm on the Hobby Plan). And it could just be that for certain people/circumstances, at this time Growth Boost for example, might not be the best way to go.
i am on a roll.. wanna join?
i am busting Skoolers and other communities with comments today as a visibility challenge. my personal best, apparently, is 467 activities, 9th Apr - thanks to Claude. second-highest day is today - 381 activities. and the night is young. so, i am gonna spend next few hours commenting. let's see where it takes me. wanna join?

🍿 How Can I Help?
it's movie Saturday. today, let's talk about New Amsterdam. it's an amazing series. highly recommend (first 2 seasons, for sure). you can find it on Netflix. 7.9/10 rating on IMDB. the tag line: "a new medical director breaks the rules to heal the system at America's oldest public hospital." why i like it? - i love medical movies. i might have been a doctor in previous lives. ... seriously, i think i envy the rush, the purpose, and the lack of ambiguity. - i am a rebel just like Max. i fight the system is the system is broken aka Growth Boost 😎 - i learn how to lead from Max. i learn how to stay positive. and i learn how to be persistent, despite all the difficulties. when you watch, ask yourself these questions to turn this into coaching session: - what bugs me in this world and what am i doing about it? - what i silently agree with that i should not? and what can i do about it? what do you think? did you watch? ps the next Community Clinic 2.0 is New Amsterdam themed. have you put it on your calendar yet?

Oh, we watched this show when it was live in the US, one week at a time. And you're right, the first 2 seasons were really good. We dropped off after that.🤩

@Lidia Axe Oh for sure! I'd almost completely forgotten about it. I love how you relate shows and movies to real life/business. And Max certainly did try to buck the system in a really cool, empathetic way.🤠
