Skool News | the Axe Verdict
bit late this week. yet, i am doing it 💪🏻 hope you appreciate it with your like or comment. btw, i am officially called "growth boost hater" and "a failure"... more on this below. also, i am not going through all the praise of GB and Skool of the week - cause i consider it an anecdotal evidence and survivorship bias. === New Features: - reviews are now sorted by Top by default. that means, if you have a shitty recent review, it will go down to the very bottom. now, ppl can still sort by "recent". yet, reviews will go to the top if - they have more text, more stars, and more months inside the community. I LIKE IT. - NEW Growth Tab - showing you what level of GB you are on and what ads are running for you. now you get way better visibility into what is going on and how much budget/ads you are getting. you can also see the requirements for getting to the next level. HOWEVER, there are still bugs and errors, so, even if you get to lvl whatever, you might not get what they promise - read below - NEW GB algorithm is picking up the new about page image/text/ pricing. which is good. I LIKE IT. IMPORTANT: right now, free or freemium or even low ticket groups DO NOT get any budget. (Sam said it on the call with a few ppl). so, don't get too excited with levels. === The Way I See It - i have been on a private call with Sam.. so, some comments comes from it. however, it was somewhat a controversial call where we (ppl who have concerns) were called "haters" and we were told that "ppl who are successful and making money love GB". so, implicitly, we were called loosers and those who don't understand how affiliate/internet/ online marketing works. - i think, Skool is focusing on "money makers" - large communities, with $$$ per month, who already drive lots of traffic. they are piggy-backing on them to benefit from affiliate commission (cause with the large traffic/large sign up numbers you don't notice the misattribution, do you?) - small communities - free or freemium, forget it.. at least for now. Sam said he MIGHT reconsider.. but you are at the mercy of him/them/they - small communities - paid, you might get some, but only if you do a lot on your end (see levels requirements)

After hearing about the abysmal success rate of communities a few weeks ago, I now see the whole platform as a low cost community hosting software that allows for networking. If I can get it to make a little money and allow me to build out my ideas, then great. I will never count on GB to help me. They are a delivery platform like any other (teachable, FB groups, etc), just with different attributes. My coaching offer will be the main income and is sold off of Skool. I am now not drinking the "10k MRR Skool community" Kool aid, given what a low percentage of the total those are.

@Lidia Axe I just read your skoolers post, and you are totally right. Why do they get a cut if they are not running ads? Since they say the 30% is for ads... A very valid point.
Something’s Wrong With Me. Or With Them.
my post in Skoolers got comments closed off. again. so, i am thinking - it's either something wrong with me. - or something wrong with them. - i thought about it. i'm pretty sure it's not me. i mean.. yes, i have strong opinion. but closing off comment... why? what do they afraid of? here is me: - go through 2 wars: one real, one in my head (Russian-Urkaine-Israel-Gaza) - got 4 children out of my body, should get a recognition for that - have been around online world for the last decade on December 1st i turn 50. so, i am not taking any sh*t anymore. not that i ever did. but now, more than ever. i don't have the time. who know how much i got. how much you got. if you're staying here, you need to know this. this place runs on what's real. real numbers. real effort. real people. and if you don't agree with whatever i say... it won't get deleted here. share away. always.

It is hard to support them and their rhetoric of "drink the Kool aid, it will be great" when you know what it actually is. I got burned 15+ years ago, when I nievely signed up for a multi level marketing enterprise. When I heard the numbers a few weeks ago, I was instantly reminded of that. Yes, some people make genuine money. But most don't directly. I don't even read skoolers anymore. I probably won't go any higher than the hobby plan. What they don't realize is that they are creating their own demise with their current policies. Substack only makes money when people subscribe. So they try hard to make sure writers do well enough to get more subscribers. They should look harder at that model. Otherwise this will be a "flash in the pan".
🎃 Trick or Treat Heist: Gain 5+ New RELEVANT Members by Monday
trick or treat, but the candy is new members. crews of 3-4 ppl. you go door to door through each other's communities and beyond, leaving comments worth reading. 🎯 goal: 5+ new members each, 15+ per crew, by Monday 12pm Israel time. people don't join a community because you asked them to. they join because you said something useful under someone else's post, and they clicked your name to see who you are. that's the heist. but it's not the real prize. the real prize is learning to build WITH people instead of next to them. most community builders go it alone. the ones who grow faster have a few people who show up in their threads, send them members, and swap notes on what's working. this weekend you find out who those people are for you. pick your crew like you'll keep them don't grab the first three names. look for people who: - serve a similar audience to yours, but don't sell the same thing - are at a similar stage, so the swap goes both ways - actually post and reply in here, not just lurk === THE RULES 1. get a crew - form your own crew of 3-4 in the comments below and give it a name. - no crew? comment "solo" and i'll help you find one. 2.write down your starting number - check your member count today. your crew's starting number is all your counts added up. 3.go door to door - start with your crewmates' communities. comment on their posts. - then go beyond: first, check the Vault (i am updating it today), then find other RELEVANT Skool communities - anywhere your people already hang out. 4.leave a treat, not a flyer - a treat is an answer - an example from your own community, your story, your experience, your case study - a flyer is "great post, check out my community." no links in comments. no DM blasts. 5.report back by Monday, 19th Oct, 12pm Israel time, drop in this thread: - starting count, ending count, new members - your biggest insight from the Heist - what made the biggest difference - one thing your crew is doing together next (optional)

📚 My Internet is still NOT working, so... i Bought Some Books
my internet went down Tuesday morning, and still down. waiting for the technician to come & fix 🤞🏻 yet, preparing for the worst you might be wondering how i post this, yes, we still have 5G but... anyway so, i just bought and downloaded 6 books on community building 💪🏻 yes, it's time to get serious bout building communities Skool or no Skool, the fundamentals are the same and this month theme in Community Income Mastermind is content outside and inside community. so, i needed to dive deep anyway. here is the list: - The Business of Belonging by David Spinks - Find Your People by Jennie Allen - People Powered by Jennie Allen - Buzzing communities by Richard Millington - Building Brand Communities by Carrie Melissa Jones, Charles Vogl - Superfans by Pat Flynn anything i've missed worth adding to the list? ps once finished, i will add this to the Vault as "suggested literature" with my commentary

Failure Wednesday Celebration 🎉
everyone celebrates wins. wins are good. we want them. but the road to success is paved with failures, many, many, of them. so, we are here normalizing failures. no. we are not just normalizing, we are celebrating them. what is failure? FAILURE is an action - something you did - and the result was not what you expected/wanted to be. Capiche? we are NOT: - celebrating procrastination - celebrating waiting for someone or smth to save us with that... what's your FAILURE from last week that you should celebrate - and we can celebrate together? as always, i will start
