What Should Go in the Front of Your Book?
Most authors don’t lose readers in Chapter 3. If they even managed to sell someone on buying their book, they often lose them before Chapter 1 even starts. I just recorded a breakdown of something almost no one talks about when it comes to writing a nonfiction book: the front matter of the book! The title page, copyright page, dedication, table of contents, introduction… all the stuff people either copy from other books or throw in because they think they’re supposed to. Think about each page strategically. Those pages are doing more work than anything else in your book. They’re where a reader decides: - “I’m in”or - “This feels like every other book I’ve seen” If someone opened your book and only read the first 10 pages… would they be hooked or gone? Watch the video and then come back here and tell me one thing you’re changing 👇

I believe in giving your intro a title (that technically looks like a subtitle) to inspire people NOT to skip over it.

@Julie Broad Thank you! I look forward to watching them. 🥰
Julie, you inspired my chapter opening!
@Julie Broad Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was on YouTube and saw the short you just posted about AI books. I was searching for an opening for my Presence chapter, and your video sparked a flow of ideas. I don't know if this is appropriate, but here's my intro inspired by your short: Lately, there’s been growing anxiety about AI taking over our lives. A fear that machines will soon be making decisions for us and controlling everything we think and do. But here’s the truth, a machine is already doing that, and has been every day of our lives. No, I’m not talking about the computer from the Matrix movies, I’m talking about something that we’re born with. According to cognitive researchers, up to 95% of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are driven by the subconscious mind—an invisible operating system formed from habits, memories, and identity. (centered and bolded) It may not seem like it, but most of the time we’re not consciously choosing what we think, feel, say, or do. We’re running on autopilot and don’t even realize it. While we think we’re in control of our lives, we’re really just reacting to and repeating old patterns. That’s why presence isn’t just important, it’s essential if we want to change, grow, and achieve the goals we set for ourselves. Presence puts us back in the driver’s seat.

@Kevin Hall Thank you, Kevin❣️
Day after summit
Day after summit, kinda feels like the day after I finished grad school - what to i do now, and it's too early to break out the bourbon. I guess my plan will be to get out a new pad of paper and start writing up a plan to put everything learned and open the ALK and see how to apply it and begin world conquest.

Hi, Julie from Riverside California here. I've been working with nonfiction authors for 20 years as coach, editor and marketing support. I love to keep learning and growing for my clients' sake, as well as my own. Now, I want to come out from behind the curtain and step onto the stage myself. I'm constantly telling ChatGPT that the book I'm working on now is mine and I'm going to write it, but I deeply appreciate its help, as our conversations are drawing wisdom out of me that wouldn't have been possible on my own. Tonight, I got the URL for my book title. So, now I have to finish and publish it❣️❣️❣️
