Just got back from Greece, Parga and honestly, it stole my heart 🇬🇷✨ I went for the turquoise water and harbor views, but I completely fell in love with the soul of the place. While exploring the old Castle above the town, I learned a bit of Parga's history, and it gave me chills: This little town survived centuries of pirate raids, spent hundreds of years protected by Venice (which is why it feels so colorful and Italian!), and was even sold off to the Ottoman ruler Ali Pasha by the British in 1819 for £150,000. The locals loved their home so fiercely that rather than live under foreign rule, the entire population packed up and left, only for their descendants to return a century later to reclaim their roots. Looking back at those colorful houses from the road as I left, I realized why people fought so hard for this place across centuries, and I already know I’ll be coming back.
