Is college still a necessity?
How essential would you consider college to be today? There's so much material online out there that some entrepreneurs live Gary Vee, Dan Martell, Simon Squibb are saying unless it's engineering, medicine, psychology, law or architecture everything is available online. What do you think?

@Rhonda Lawson Thank you for sharing! It's interesting how schools still expect us to learn the same way as anyone else. Albert Einstein once said "if you teach a fish how to climb a tree, the fish will think he's not good at anything". It's so important to support, but even coming from the same house nobody has the same abilities
Living with purpose
Yesterday I spoke with someone who graduated from college just because they were told they “needed the degree.” Sometimes we follow paths that seem right but disconnect us from what we truly want. I’ve been there too, until I had to decide whether to keep postponing my purpose or finally take action. Do you notice signs that your son or daughter might be following external expectations rather than exploring what they genuinely want?

The myth of motivation
I often hear parents say, “I just wish my teen was more motivated.” But motivation isn’t something we can give them, it’s something they have to discover within themselves. The truth is, many teens aren’t unmotivated; they’re just uninspired. They don’t see how what they’re doing connects to who they want to become. When that connection is missing, even the most talented kid will feel stuck. At Compass, I’ve seen how helping a teen reconnect with their why changes everything. Grades, habits, even confidence. What’s one thing you’ve noticed actually sparks motivation in your teen and what shuts it down?

Inspiration
Jim Carrey once said "if there's a chance you can fail at something you don't want you might as well give a chance to do something you love". Last Saturday I had the honor to be in a Q&A with Tom Kenny (the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants) and he said "if someone else will take the job if you don't apply you might as well do it. Worst case someone else books the job anyway and best case is you get to be a part of something you wanted". Why do I say this? Because we seem to worry too much about playing it safe. As a teen and a young adult you have everything to go all in. No child to look after, no family to maintain, no debts. The sky is the limit. Take a chance. It only takes a leap of faith. What's something you believe your teen is struggling with that keeps him or her away from their dreams?

How did he get into that mindset? How did he find the courage to push forward?

@Na'sia Smith that's great! Which techniques were the most successful for you?
Plan B. Ally or enemy?
We might have been told to have something to fall back on in case what we want to do doesn't work. When I worked on a job just to pay my basic needs, I'd come back tired not wanting to do more stuff. There would be times where I'd push myself to keep working as my intention had been to use my 9 to 5 to finance my 5 to 9, but now I'm working full time on my passion and I feel more focused to do the best I can do and keep improving. What's your view on having a plan B? What would you think could be more practical for your teen?
