The troubles
I am struggling to focus and realize my potential. I love playing and music. But I am unable to concentrate on it. Life has been extremely hard on me and my family. I am struggling to find work. Unable to get my self out of bed. I am not suicidal but I am depressed. I do talk and try to be optimistic. I am just venting here but I know others are feeling the same. Just keep your head up and breathe.

WHAT ARE YOU PRACTICING?
I’ve been working on two different songs for several months. One is an original, and the second is a remake of a song a couple of friends and I recorded for a Birmingham, Alabama, rock radio station back in 1983. The first song is called Love Almost Died. I wrote the lyrics first, and they came together rather quickly. Later, I wrote the riff and rhythm guitar. I’m practicing it almost nightly, trying to nail it down so I can start laying down tracks. As I mentioned, the second song is one that some friends and I recorded in 1983 for a “Battle of the Bands” contest that a Birmingham, Alabama rock radio station was running. The song is called Innocent Bystander. The original recording, which I lost in one of my many moves, wasn’t very good. We recorded it in one of my friends’ carport on a basic tape recorder. The bass player didn’t show up, and we didn’t have a drummer. We used a drum machine, which back then was pretty basic. The lineup was Ned on lead guitar, Tommy on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, and me on rhythm guitar. Tommy’s vocals were pretty good (he missed a note or two), but we rushed to submit the songs to the radio station before the deadline. I’ve wanted to re-record it for a long time. Now’s the time. I’ve been practicing it almost every night, too. Here are links to videos of me playing Lave Almost Died and Innocent Bystander. I, and I’m sure others, want to see or hear whatever you’re working on—an original song, a cover song, scales, or a technique—anything. Get out of your comfort zone and post links to videos or audio.

Hey everyone! First time posting here! Getting back into playing guitar consistently again and finding this cool group at the perfect time. I look forward to chatting with everyone! Picture is the first PRS I’ve ever bought and it will be arriving Monday. I’m a tad bit excited! 🤘🏻

@Eric Haight I am wanting a p90 guitar as well! That’s the one pickup configuration that I want but don’t have. I love strats as well. This PRS plays so nice so that opens up a whole new door. It has coil tap too so while it’ll never sound like a strat, you can get close enough to use it if it’s not a super clean sound. Cheers! 🤘🏻
Fun little guitar
I got this guitar just because I needed to buy a guitar in the moment(as everyone here will understand) and I figured I’d give this thing a shot. It’s def not up to the baby Taylor/little Martin quality or sound but it’s also nowhere near the price. It’s a Mitchell MDJ-10 and I honestly love this thing. It’s got cool aesthetics and little bump in the back to give a little more sound for a small guitar but I’d say the sound is like 90% guitar and 10% Uke when you’re playing chords but it feels like an actual instrument and not a toy. My favorite thing about this though is how I can just sit literally anywhere to play it and it’s so small, you’re not really having to worry about posture. Just wanted to share in case someone was looking for something like a budget version of a baby Taylor or little Martin. You can get them for <$150. I love this thing and would suggest it all day. 🤘🏻

@Ronald Parada yea I love this little thing. It’s also small enough it’s easy to keep it close by so I end up playing it when I wouldn’t have gone to properly sit and play you know?

@Terry Wood yea I was going to buy one of those actually but I wanted something a tad bit smaller than a parlor and this was perfect for that. I agree! Sometimes I want to noodle around but don’t want to be sitting with good posture because I’m doing something else and this is perfect for that
