Here are some of the most effective, writer-tested ways to get words moving again: - Write badly on purpose! (Messy words are raw material. No words means nothing to shape.) - Change the unit of work! (Instead of trying to write a chapter, try writing a paragraph or even just a sentence.) - Write sideways! (If the next scene is blocked, jump ahead. You never have to write from beginning to end. Write the scene that you can't stop thinking about. Write the twist. Write the ending. When you're ready, go back to where you stopped.) - Read, but read adjacent! (Read something close to your genre, but not identical.
