Do You Ever Truly Rest as an Entrepreneur?
There was a really good conversation in one of our group chats earlier today about working on the weekends, and it’s something I’ve wrestled with for a long time myself. I believe Scripture to be true, and throughout the Bible we’re reminded of the importance of rest and honoring the Sabbath. Not as a rule to follow out of guilt, but as a gift meant to protect our hearts, our families, and our long-term effectiveness. As entrepreneurs, especially those who genuinely care about serving people, it can feel almost impossible to shut things off. The work matters. The mission matters. And when you’re wired to build and help, there’s always something that could be done. I’ll be honest. This is still a struggle for me. But I do my best to take at least one day where I’m fully present with my family. No work. No emails. No “just one quick thing.” Just being where my feet are. Years ago, a mentor helped me see the difference between work-life balance and work-life harmony. Balance sounds nice, but it’s hard to truly achieve. Harmony, on the other hand, is about alignment. When your faith, family, health, and business all move together instead of competing with each other, there’s a deeper sense of peace. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you intentionally take a Sabbath, or do you find yourself constantly on the go?

God is the CEO of my business he makes all the final calls and decisions he says rest on a Sabbath so it's included in my schedule the boss said to rest and quit working who am I to tell him no I'm going to work you know? we don't do that in the workforce

@Spence Trick I really enjoyed your comment it brings up a very important topic of prioritizing priorities and setting up correct boundaries of relationships all my clients, calendars, groups that are mine directly are turned off during my sabbath and activity will pick up the next day. because I've been consistent people just kinda know when it is and respect it. but here's the thing once you allow someone to cross that line they'll forever feel they can. so a hard boundary on this is much needed. remembering God's in control!
