Week 7 commitments: What are you shipping this week?
Week 7 commitments (Nov 30 - Dec 6): Last week was Thanksgiving chaos for most of us. I fell off too. Getting back on this week. It's not that we won't occasionally slip. It's all about getting back to it and not going back to old habits. MY focus this week: - Export/import/rough balance old Christmas album to rerelease with updated skills (originally about a decade old). Film at least one for Classroom content showing the process. If that's done and I'm in flow: - Track drums/guitar/bass/vocals for new song (targeting end-month completion). I'm making a modification as I realize this should be apples to apples. Client work and D4D admin are happening too, but that's "day job" stuff. This list is what moves MY music forward. Same rule for you - commit to YOUR creative work, not your job tasks. Still adapting as we go! Your turn: What's the ONE thing you're finishing this week? Drop it below 👇

Hello everyone, glad to see you. My thanksgiving holiday week was utter wreckage but just makes the turnover that much better. My Tasks: - Interview/Podcast on Friday (tomorrow): Promote latest song, discuss the learning curves of this year & expand on what worked and what didn’t. - Create an impromptu piece of content while I’m out on my morning walk Saturday and Sunday. - Finalize the Christmas Sale Animation for the website If all is completed | Extra Credit: - Finish my sellers profile for Fiverr for taking on freelance voiceover work.
It's official! Settle Down out now!
After many years of focusing on producing other artists, it's time. First month is down. Minimum of one single a month from here on out. This month will be a bit ridiculous as well, as I also plan on remixing part of my old Christmas EP both for fun as well as marketing. Tis the season to promote Christmas music, and what better way to showcase how building systems speeds up workflow than to speed mix through a group of songs and still beat the old mix by a landslide? 😂 And so it begins! allbutdenied.bandcamp.com

I'm Finally Starting to Like My Voice
Over the last couple weeks finishing "Settle Down", I had breakthroughs that showed me I'm on the right path - both doing and teaching. I finally broke through the problem of listening to my music as an insecure artist. My insecurity? My voice. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't love it either. My favorite singers - Mike Patton, Chester Bennington, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell - are some of the all-time greats. Two realizations hit me: First - I was comparing myself to the elite of the elite. Recipe for failure. And proof? My songs sat primarily for that reason. "Voice not good enough" despite fronting multiple regionally successful bands. Second - I needed to change the lens. I've worked with elite vocalists. I've worked with ones where I redesigned entire melodies to make them palatable. When I stepped back and listened to my music as a producer, not a musician, I realized how much time I wasted. I'm actually starting to like my voice. Never thought I'd say that. If you're struggling with your voice, an instrument, or anything else - how you feel now isn't how you'll feel later. Know where you're going. Don't give up too early.

I feel the same way. lol But I can try different vocal tones so if I don’t like one, I try to go to another like pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

Kill it!
Week 5 commitments!
Week 5. Same system. Monday commitments, Friday check-in. How'd Week 4 go? Drop your wins (or your excuses) if you haven't already. This week (Nov 16-22), my TOP 3 non-negotiables: 1. All But Denied single Settle Down to be released (music is done, finishing artwork - a note to make sure you do this in tandem so the art isn't the hold up!) 2. Sending warm DM's to at least 5 people about Discipline For Dreamers 3. Begin posting D4D Opus Clip shorts for marketing Bonus list (if I'm on a roll): - Going big - mix prep for remixes of my previous album of Christmas songs proving that building systems work. 4-6 of them. - Edit video 5 for Classroom and YouTube - Record video 6 for Classroom Why I structure it this way: ADHD brain. When hyperfocus hits, I need options ready or decision fatigue kills momentum. But I hold myself to the top 3. Make it specific. Make it small. Make it DONE by Friday. Drop your commitment below 👇

Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well today and having a good pre-holiday week. My tasks this week are to: - Follow up with all my past customers and send them a message wishing them a safe holiday week and send out a “what I’m thankful for”, email. - While I am out in NJ (unexpected family loss) reach out to a couple peers I know back home and see how they been and what the scene is experiencing aka what is growing. - Record and send out some radio drops for the latest song and submit it to 4 college radio stations. IF I’M ABLE TO (*fingers crossed) - Begin the initial designs for the Lyrizone Christmas Ornaments. - Finalize my decision on a new website host and begin the “starting fresh” routine for how the site looks and performs. My Hits: - Followed up with my current PR campaign - I corrected my customer onboarding when it came to purchases and converting them to email/sms subscribers. - I scripted 3 content pieces on the following: 1. ROKK UPDATES 2. WHY CHANGING GENRES WORKED FOR ME! 3. WHY BEING A MASTER OF ALL CAN HURT YOU ( now I just need to fine tune how I want to present it/what to say and wear. My Misses: - I did not send over an audition reel to the film director. - I did not promote the song this week on social media. (BIG NO NO)
