Thank you to @Jonathan Larsen for sharing about his Auctioneer Journey, his fundraising philosophy, creating content and finding opportunities that he never thought existed. Here are a few takeaways from this morning's conversation. - Every stage appearance is an audition. Even small or low-margin events can lead to bigger opportunities if you show up prepared, present, and professional. - Benefit auctioneering isn’t just calling bids. It’s entertainment, psychology, pacing, and helping donors feel great about giving more than they planned. - Pricing requires flexibility and confidence. Flat fees, base + bonus, or creative splits all work—what matters is alignment, value, and betting on yourself. - Momentum beats perfection. Whether it’s bidding, fund-a-need, or content creation, keep things moving. Silence isn’t failure—it’s donors thinking. - Relationships > transactions. Clients, AV teams, planners, donors, and even “small” gigs compound over time if you play the long game. - Content doesn’t have to be perfect—just real. Put yourself out there in a way only you can. Authentic beats polished every time. - Protect your reputation. Sometimes the best events are the ones you don’t take. You’re only as good as your last auction—choose wisely.
