Move data from Dynamics CE and F&O into Lakehouse/Data Warehouse
Hello, I am currently exploring methods for transferring data from Dynamics 365 Sales and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations into a Fabric Lakehouse/Data Warehouse. My aim is not only to import the data but also to have the capability to clean, transform, and build semantic models, ultimately for use in Power BI reports with a focus on maintaining rapid update capabilities. Could anyone share insights on the unique advantages Fabric might offer compared to other platforms? Specifically, I’m interested in understanding how it performs regarding speed, cost-effectiveness, and user-friendliness, particularly for data integration and transformation workflows.

Hi Rob, Thanks for the info! Just to make sure I got it right—are you saying that the "Link to Fabric" feature is a simpler and possibly faster alternative to Azure Synapse Link for moving data into Fabric? Sounds like the delta parquet format might be a big plus over CSV in terms of performance. Did I understand you correctly that your team is replacing the Azure Synapse link with the Link to Fabric feature? Does that sum it up, or is there more to it? Is also see the following prerequisite listed in the link you sent me: - A Power BI premium license or Fabric capacity within the same Azure geographical region as your Dataverse environment is required. Currently, the system supports these premium capacity SKUs: "P1", "P2", "P3", "P4", "P5", "F2", "F4", "F8", "F16", "F32", "F64", "F128", "F256", "F512", "F512", "F1024", "F2048", "DCT1", "FT1." We do not have a Power BI premium license at my company, but I guess a Pro license would do plus a Fabric capacity (pay as you go / reservation) ranging from 2-16 capacity units (F2 - F16). Is that correct? Appreciate your help!
