Reptile Enclosures
🦎🐍🌿 #Plants for #Reptile Enclosures Reptiles (and #snakes!) love plants too. In a #bioactiveterrarium /enclosure, plants can: ✨ Provide climbing & hiding spots for security ✨ Add aesthetic beauty to the setup ✨ Offer edible options for herbivores & omnivores 🌴 Tropical / Humid Setups (#geckos, snakes, anoles, tree #frogs, dart frogs) Bromeliads Pothos (durable climber) Philodendrons Creeping Fig (Ficus pumila) Calathea / Maranta (Prayer Plants) Ferns Spider Plants Peperomias Tradescantia (Wandering Dude) Orchids 🌵 Desert / Arid Setups (#beardeddragons, leopard geckos, uromastyx, some snakes) Haworthia Echeveria Sedum (Stonecrops) Opuntia (Prickly Pear Cactus — edible pads/fruit!) Agave (small, non-spiny types) Aloe vera (moderation only) ⚠️ What’s safe for reptiles isn’t always safe for cats & dogs. For example, pothos and philodendrons are reptile-safe, but toxic to mammals. Do any of you have reptiles?

@Heather Boers I love ponytails and have been amazed that I was successful at growing from seeds. I gave up and suddenly these little green heads began to pop up! Amazing!

@Amy Locks wouldn’t that be the absolute bomb? I can just see us having tea in our amazingly cool house and talking plants until other people’s eyes would glaze over!

@Jim Flach I know what you mean! I look back at my friends who were ‘plantier’ than I at the time and wish I had that again! Boy, don’t we learn?

Cory, I do believe my plants suffer from the cold temps in the house. I am learning where those places are and I’m rearranging the ones that don’t like it. I really appreciate you looking that up for me. As for the watering, also interesting, I just bought some terracotta stakes for watering and I am surprised at the plants that are using a lot of water and those that aren’t. I think I will have happier plants now that I have that visual guide. My Bird of Paradise just looks so happy! Just shows you never quit learning! Thanks again, Cory!!

I have four and if I can get them past their infant stage I’ll send you one.
What's your why?
Why do you collect plants? Why do you love plants? Is it surface level, or deeper? For me it started for me when I was a teenager, but my love really"blossomed' (see what I did there?)🤣🤣 I think after I had my first divorce and my son and I were having alot of problems. Plants dont talk back, plants don't argue, they are pretty simple creatures, and they know what they want and if you know them, they may just help you when you need them to. But after all I've been through in my life, they are a reminder that I am strong enough to get through all that life throws at me, and they will be there too to help out if I need it. 😉 🥰❤️

My love began as a young one and showed me thaI could nurture these beauties successfully. They gave me confidence! As a young mother they gave me something to nurture and, more or less control. And when my kids left my nest empty, I could once again nurture and explore my changing taste while they gave me back the love and the cozy! I think about them all the time and enjoy my fingers in the dirt and watching them bloom!
