Good miter saw gauges??
Hey everyone, I'm looking for some good miter gauges under $60 ... though $40 is more of a choice for me now that I'm seeing my bank, lol. Have any good choices?? Any advice/options are appreciated. I've heard that the Powermatic one is a good option.

@Victor Mena I also have the 7491 and it does have a short runway but for some odd reason it's never bothered me. If I'm crosscutting a board that is too big for the 7491 I use my homemade track saw on it. My biggest compliant about the table saw is setting angles other than 90 and 45. Other than that I love it.

@Victor Mena That's what I would do if I had more room. Since retiring I only have an enclosed carport 8 feet by 15 feet and have to keep everything on locking casters and flip carts for my jointer, belt/disc sander. And one has my compound miter saw and DeWalt 734 planer. It looks like a good plan to me.
Finally built an all in one workbench
I finally built an all in one workbench to keep all my woodworking tools on. I still have a few things left to do on it. Need to add some trim on the top and add some t-track on the top. Sorry for the mess. Its still being organized while building a few projects.

Well, I carefully looked at the pictures and I see 2 things missing. A place for the cat to sit. :) And a mini fridge for the beverages. JK
Howdy
I am David, and after helping my father with his utility wood projects when I was young, I have decided to get into woodworking. Since he has passed, I am stating from ground zero. However, all of my work life, I have been in the problem solving business. So I am glad to join and look forward in sharing knowledge with all.

Welcome. If you are on a limited budget you can pick up free furniture to use the wood. I got an old oak table that was 36 inch square for free and remade it into the top of a nice 1.5 inch thick top for a workbench. I also like getting free chest of drawers because there's a lot of wood from the drawers. If space is limited look into building flip carts. That way 2 tools take the space of one and use locking casters on them to save more space. The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy your new hobby!
My first youtube video
Hello everyone, this is Rani from Beirut, Lebanon. I’ve been woodworking since November, mostly learning through practice and YouTube videos. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I’m genuinely enjoying every part of it. I wanted to share my video here because this channel is one of the places I’ve learned from the most on YouTube. I’d also really appreciate your feedback on my work, especially the technical side and any mistakes you noticed. For example, a friend pointed out that I should build a jig for my table saw crosscuts, and another noticed that I was using the router in the wrong direction. I’m trying to learn properly and improve with every project, so any advice, corrections, or observations would mean a lot. Thank you in advance! https://youtu.be/tDf8cbXGIkQ?si=OPUobqxmlw0bFKIJ

One thing we all had to learn is when you make something and show it to your friends and family do not point out any mistakes. It's a common hole to fall in and say something like "does that uneven edge stand out much?". DON'T DO THAT. Unless they are also woodworkers they will probably not even notice. Now if you are getting advice from another maker that's fine but your aunt Betsy wouldn't know a miter joint from a butt joint so don't point it out. And don't forget that we humans learn from trial and error since the moment we start breathing air. In fact it's the best way to have something you learned actually stuck in your mind. Happy sawdust making! :)
Project suggestions?

One thing that is fun to make and useful is a wood mallet. There are plenty of videos and different ideas on what it should be. Like angled ends or 90 degree ends.

I have seen a lot of people make outdoor furniture with very few tools and this time of the year is great to give it a try.
