Restoring History
A huge fire destroyed one of Glasgow's historic buildings this weekend. Now a big debate has started: what should replace it? Some people say historic buildings are beautiful but hard and expensive to convert to modern standards. They can be energy-inefficient and difficult to make accessible. Others argue modern buildings are boring and soulless compared to the bold architecture of the industrial era. So what do you thinkโ€”protect historic character or build modern and sustainable? Let me know in the comments.

Hi all, I've just caught a snippet of this video and watched a news report on this fore starting. It is truly a loss for those whose business went woth the fire and I pray that those people can get by with such a significant loss having have taken place, in terms of replacement of the building, there is nothing quite like an older architectural style and I would agree more new building styles can sometimes be soulless, but I would think that they need to rebuild that portion of what has burnt down with something that blends in comfortably and that runs efficiently and safely, not only for the business owners and safety of others but also for the fondness of those who have lost something common to the eye.
