HOW TO READ A PEPTIDE CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS (COA)
I get asked all the time, “How do I know if a peptide has actually been tested?” Seeing a COA is a good start, but simply having a piece of paper that says 99% purity is not enough. You need to know what you’re looking at, what was actually tested, and whether the report can be independently verified. Using the Tirzepatide COA below as an example, here are the important things I look for. 1. PRODUCT / IDENTITY — IS IT ACTUALLY TIRZ? Look for Product and Identity. In this example: Product: Tirzepatide 30 mg Identity: Confirmed The laboratory used LC-MS (liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry) for identity testing. This helps confirm that the material analyzed is consistent with the compound it is supposed to be. In other words: Did they actually send Tirzepatide to the lab? 2. NET CONTENT — HOW MANY MILLIGRAMS ARE ACTUALLY IN THE VIAL? This is one of the most important numbers people overlook. The vial may be labeled 30 mg, but the COA shows the laboratory's measured Net Content. On this report: Labeled: 30 mg Tested Net Content: 29.07 mg On the second sample we looked at, the measured content was 31.31 mg. This is why I want to see quantity testing, not just purity. A peptide can test extremely pure while still containing substantially less material than the label claims. Purity and quantity are two different measurements. 3. PURITY — HOW PURE IS THE MATERIAL? Look for Purity (HPLC-UV). On the first COA: Purity: 99.87% The second sample tested: Purity: 99.90% Purity tells you how much of the detected peptide material corresponds to the target compound relative to detectable impurities under that analytical method. 99.9% purity does NOT mean the vial contains 99.9% of the advertised milligrams. That is exactly why you need to look at both PURITY and NET CONTENT. 4. DATE REPORTED — HOW CURRENT IS THE TEST? Look near the top of the COA for: Received: When the laboratory received the sample Reported: When the laboratory issued the results This example was:

I hope everyone had an amazing Fourth of July weekend! First things first... sorry I've been a little MIA lately. Life has been life-ing pretty hard over here. I've had some exciting news, some disappointing news, and honestly enough stress over the last few weeks to keep my cortisol levels elevated through 2027. 😂 So let's start with the disappointing news... After almost 12 years as a Medical Laboratory Technician at the urology clinic where I work, administration has decided to restructure and eliminate the MLT positions across all five locations. Now, for me personally, this wasn't a complete shock. I was already planning my exit because I'll be moving almost two hours away soon. But my heart absolutely breaks for my fellow lab crew. Some of us saw the writing on the wall. Others were completely blindsided. Twelve years is a long time. I've spent more waking hours with some of these people than I have with my own family. We've survived staffing shortages, instrument breakdowns, impossible workloads, ridiculous situations that should have been documentaries, and enough urine samples to fill a small lake. So yes... it's bittersweet. But here's the thing... I've always believed that sometimes life shoves you in a direction that you probably should have gone anyway. And honestly? I'm excited. For the first time in a very long time, I will have the freedom to focus on the things I truly love. This group. Peptide education. My online store. Creating content. And finally launching my true crime podcast that I've been talking about forever. Seriously... you all have no idea how excited I am about having my own office. Not a corner. Not a spare room. Not a folding table full of peptide inventory. An actual office. A place for podcast equipment. A place for inventory. A place where I can organize my chaos instead of living in it. 😂 My house is about to stop looking like a laboratory supply closet collided with a crime documentary production studio. At least that's the goal.
