Thoughts on tools
I had an idea today, I'm interested in hearing thoughts from others. I've basically tried everything to keep my game events organized, Google Docs, Evernotes, notion, pieces of paper. Nothing ever really sticks or works well, at least for me. While I was setting up some shortcuts (ie Apple's version of macros/automation) on my iPad to quickly create tasks in my task manager (Things 3). It dawned on me, why not create pre-canned shortcuts for stuff I want to track? For instance, in 5e D&D contracting a disease involves a few steps (Con check DC10-15, Incubation period (1d4 days), etc. A pain to track on paper/notebooks but really simple in a task manager with checklists. Has anyone used a todo list or task manager to help organize your game?

Yeah, I still need to run some experiments to see how it actually pans out. Entry is extremely quick, once the templates (shortcuts) are created it’s just a matter of tapping a button. What I’m trying to learn next, is what you mention here, Balancing the layers and will I have to add more to the system for zooming in and out. Will this be another needle in a haystack, etc.
This Week's Open Table Game Game Cancelled
Hey everyone, I've been absent for a bit as I move! I'm in the home stretch of doing so, but between unpacking and catching up on work, I don't think I'll have time this week for our weekly game, so I'll have to cancel it for now. I should be set up for a much more consistent schedule soon!

@Tristan Fishel hope the move goes well. If you ever run one of these on a Thursday night, count me in. We were discussing this in today's coffee hour. cheers!
NotebookLM
I know people vary in their acceptance of AI, and I have my own concerns, but I've been using NotebookLM lately and really enjoying it. You include sources into a notebook and it adds the content into a model. I add episode recordings into a notebook and it provides stunningly good summaries, and also answers questions about the content very well. It isn't perfect, and occasionally you have to correct it (especially names), but it has proven to be very useful for helping me to remember things that happened 100+ episodes ago.

@Josh Hughes A Google product that lets you drop sources (pdfs, articles, images, etc) into a notebook and it compiles it into its model just for that information. Then you can, using chat, ask it questions, "What's the overall theme/atmosphere of level 2 of the dungeon?", etc. It also creates some interesting tools for you like a mini podcast where you hear two people talking about the content, mind maps, presentations, etc.
Inverse HR Job
I just got a promotion at work and will be transitioning into an HR adjacent job. As I am getting ready, I have been chuckling as I realize how similar proactive GMing is to HR. Character drama comes in, try to hold on to rules and policy to resolve the conflicts. Big difference is that at home I am playing an active role in creating messy and complex conflicts to cause grief at the table. Somehow I think the work version wont be nearly as fun.

New Book, OUT NOW!
We are unbelievably excited for the launch of the second book in the Game Master's Handbook series, and follow-up to the Proactive Roleplaying book: The Game Master's Handbook of Collaborative Campaign Design! This book walks GMs through planning and executing full campaigns, from a full Session -1 system to kick things off to finishing every arc in a satisfying conclusion. We are so, so, so proud and grateful to share this with you, and we can't wait to hear what folks think! You can find it on Amazon (link below) or with all major book retailers, so check what's available near you! We can't wait for you to read it! We'll have more news for you soon, so keep an eye out! Thank you all again for being a part of the journey, and we'll be chatting with you a ton in the coming days. There's an invitation to this lab in the book this time, so we're expecting a few new friends in the coming weeks. We can't possibly convey to you all how grateful we are for the welcoming, helpful, and kindhearted people here, and we trust that vibe will continue as we meet new folks. Talk to you soon!
