Your portfolio in Spotify?
If I upload my original portfolio compositions to platforms like Spotify, could that create any issues later if a director, production company or client wants to license that exact piece for a project (film, game, trailer, advertising, etc.)? I’m mainly wondering: - Whether having the music already released affects exclusivity or future licensing possibilities. - If it could complicate copyright ownership, control of the work, or long-term royalties. - Whether, from a strategic point of view, it’s better to keep portfolio compositions unpublished in order to sell or license them directly to clients. From your experience, what approach works best: building a public catalog on streaming platforms, or keeping music unreleased for direct licensing opportunities? Thanks in advance for your insights.
Midjourney Animation is crazy!
Hey everyone, yesterday I got a notification that Midjourney Animation is available and I gave it a try. Honestly, you can get so much out of the lowest subscription ($10), it's crazy ... and the results are amazing! Here is a little test I did. You also don't even need Discord anymore, you can generate it all inside the browser. I also used Claude to create the prompts, I feel it's a bit more creative that ChatGPT.

@Alex Pfeffer Awesome, so you can make up to 15 video generations with the basic plan?

Removing music from movie scenes and trailers: how do you do it?
I want to use movie scenes and trailers in my portfolio where I remove the original soundtrack but keep the dialogue and sound effects intact, so I can compose my own music over them. I'm aware of the option to use free footage from stock video sites or to generate clips with AI (like Veo3, which is currently the most realistic tool — but it's too expensive, and I don’t want videos that obviously look AI-generated). What I’m really looking for are real movie scenes or trailers without the music. Do you know how to achieve this? Any recommended software or websites? What about iZotope RX? Thank you in advance!

@Andrew Hand Hey, thank you for your reply — you went straight to what I was really asking, hahaha. So, I'm not a Logic user, and I can try Lalala.ai as long as it's a free tool, but I'm definitely not supporting the idea I was proposing anymore when it comes to adding it to my portfolio.

@Shawn van Staden yeah I have just tested this software and it does well the separation vocals - music in my opinion, but it forgets the SFX to manipulate them separately, do you know if there is any option in the configuration to keep them when removing the music?
Wouldn’t it be great to have a clear overview of the skills and specializations of the members here?
It could help build a more supportive and collaborative community, not necessarily the main purpose of the group (kudos to Alex for keeping the soul of it alive!), but something worth considering. Personally, I’ve been juggling multiple projects lately, and it's getting hard to meet deadlines, especially when clients push for tight delivery sprints. Sometimes I need help with specific tasks, from support on sound design, editing, or other audio-related work... on a project basis. It would be amazing to know who’s open to professional (paid) collaborations from time to time. Maybe we could think of a lightweight system to list our key abilities or availability? Anyone else in a similar situation?
