Help Each Other by Engaging on Instagram
Hi there! 😊 As an artist with a small Instagram account, I’ve found it really lovely to have a group of supportive and engaging followers. I’ve even noticed that strangers, mostly other artists, sometimes cheer louder than friends and family 🤪 Personally, my goal right now isn’t to grow a huge following (my profile has actually been private for a while), but I do really enjoy meaningful engagement and supporting others as well 😊 That’s why I’d love to invite you to drop your Instagram (name or link) below so we can follow each other, engage, and support one another 😊🙌 Mine is https://www.instagram.com/lizaglorius.art?igsh=MW5qZWk4eG1xNDlxNA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

Curiosity question: do you use Instagram to share your work, or sell it? or both? I've never had an account, so I'm interested in how it's used.
inspiration/ reference
Where do you find your inspiration? Or references? Do you use photo’s? From websites? Or do you shoot your own? Don’t use references at all? just look outside? Read books? Poetry?

I use all kinds of references - photos, pinterest, things I sketch, photos I take, famous artists' paintings... essentially, whatever catches my eye. If I'm copying, then I just print a hard copy of the photo, but if I'm making an original composition, then I'll photograph the scene/object, then sketch it, make a more detailed drawing if necessary, and then paint it.
Experimenting with Gel(li) plate printing
I recently bought materials for silicone gel plate printing. A few questions before I start. 1. Seems like acrylic paint is the most recommended product. Is it possible to use other inks/paints? 2. Manufacturer suggests cleaning the plate with soap and water, but the Youtube-o-verse suggests baby wipes. Any difference between the two methods? 3. If I understand the process, the paint is still wet when you place the paper, then you wait 30 seconds or so before pulling the paper off the plate. Is this basically the process? 4. Thanks in advance for your answers!!

🌍 Challenge: “One Theme, Many Minds“
Everyone paints their interpretation of THE theme. THE theme, we are going to choose together in the poll below. Then we are going to paint the winning theme. Then the paintings are displayed side by side. You can make as many paintings with this theme as you like. The fun part is seeing how differently people think about the exact same theme. It feels a bit like a mini art exhibition and gives everyone a chance to explain their ideas. Is this clear ? 😅 if you have questions let me know. But first we have to determine THE theme with all of us.

Advice needed! Making own canvas!
Hi everyone, I’ve been feeling for a while that I want to paint BIG 😂 But I’m also still developing as an artist that I don’t really want to spend big bucks on giant canvases. So I’m thinking I could make my own (just add another thing to my creative to do list 😂). Has anyone made their own and have any tips or tricks to help? I’d be grateful for any advice 🙏🏽 Picture of one of my tiny paintings for some attention 😂😆 Help get out of the tiny phase!!

@Bleu Roesbery Actually, your instructions are for making a strainer, which is different from a stretcher. Because the corners of the strainer are fixed, it isn't possible to tighten the canvas when it starts to get loose, which would be a big problem for large canvases. Much better to bite the bullet and buy actual stretcher bars. Stretchers can be expanded when the canvas becomes loose. Costs more, but will avoid big hassles with large canvases.

Case studies aside, a strainer is a strainer and a stretcher is a stretcher.
