What Were You Doing 5 Years Ago?
Wow, we've grown by more than 50 members this week. Welcome to all of you who recently joined the Society. I thought it would be a great for us to get to know each other a little better. What were you doing 5 years ago vs. today? And how is your life different because of any changes you made intentionally or unintentionally? I was deep in corporate marketing with zero plan to leave. Now I run my portfolio businesses from my couch. Your turn.

5 years ago, I was just about to complete my first full year in the Amazon Influencer program and had shifted my digital marketing business to remote video production from social media management, as I had run into multiple people who were still trying to remain relevant after the pandemic, and in-person networking as we knew it had changed. The change since then has made me realize how much people are still hesistant to use video to show how they solve problems for others, and Substack, with it's mutlimodal platform content, has become my favorite platform.
Please Introduce Yourself Here
I opened this community for creators who want to grow, monetize, and scale Substack into a portfolio business with multiple income streams. This is where we talk about the things most creators skip: paid tiers, digital products, offer strategy, sponsorships, positioning, and the AI workflows that help you do more without hiring. If you're new here, introduce yourself below with: - Your Substack URL - Your niche - Whether you're free-only, paid, or selling products already - Your #1 monetization goal for the next 90 days - I’ll be in the comments.

Hi, I am Jim Fuhs, a retired Marine Corps LtCol and digital marketer. I am in the Amazon Influencer program with my Podcast cohost with Dealcasters where we talk about tech and gear to help people on their creative journey. We have a monetized YouTube channel and we started a Substack for that. My Substack is Jim’s Writing and Video Journey where I do some writing and have written articles combined with video to teach people how to use Substack’a video features. I have 4 paid subscribers and I am looking to start a couple more publications, one focused on Veterans and the other as more of a local area info for the community I live in. My goal Is to add a paid digital product My Substack is https://jimfuhs.substack.com Excited to be here.

@Carrie Loranger great to be here!
Any Good Reads?
What's one book, podcast, or show that changed how you think? Mine is The One Thing by Gary Keller. The big takeaway for me was that there's always a long to-do list, but the move is to prioritize the things that make everything else easier or faster. To this day, I wake up every morning and pick one to three tasks that do exactly that. It basically helps me get out of my own way. What's yours? And what stayed with you from it?

@Carrie Loranger I actually talked to Christopher Lochhead at a conference in April and am leaning toward the category of authentic video creation

@Tom Kavanaugh great minds think alike!
Your one monetization move this week
I'd love to know what everyone's working on right now. What's the project that has most of your attention this week?

I just finished my first draft of an Ebook on using the video features of Substack
AI for images
I'm preparing my newsletter for Tuesday and I'm really excited about it because it's all about visual branding. This is something I don't really talk about, but I've been using AI for image creation since the early days of Midjourney. I went live with Pinkie from AI Meets Girl Boss last week and we talked about visual branding and how it lead to more subscribers for both of us. In the comments, I'm sharing a few prompts that will be included in Tuesday's paid subscriber issue so you can try them out. I'm wondering what the members of this community have done for their visual branding. Please feel free to share your style and drop some images in the comments. There are a total of 20 image prompts like these in Tuesday's issue. Would you like me to turn it into a guide and include it in the classroom?

These look great, of course the challenge becomes, like @Tom Kavanaugh says, which one is best? I have had some nice success with Nano Banana and of course lots of folks like the new Chat GPT and Gemini just rolled out some new features, but like the prompts you shared @Carrie Loranger
