Update and Checking In
Hello Everyone. This past couple of weeks has been very hard for our family, with the loss of our little sister Emily (shared in an earlier post). There are no words for how this loss has hit our family. We have a long road ahead. But I am looking forward to getting back to my passion - our community and the work we do. 💚 Anyone who knows me, knows that family and loved ones are at the heart of who I am and everything I do - life is too short and I want to love fiercely for every second of it! Today, my message to all of you is this - quit waiting. Quit waiting until the perfect time. Quit waiting until you get some sign. Quit waiting for tomorrow. Whether you are waiting to go after better health, a new relationship, a new job, a new place to live, etc. - none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. And life IS far too short to keep waiting when the best time is NOW. This beautiful young woman (she is on the right in this picture), our baby sister, only had 36 years. If we can help you go after whatever it is you have been waiting for, let us know and let's all live our best lives together. 💗

@Jeanna Finch and @Jennifer Gaydeski my heart breaks for you all. How fleeting and fragile life is. In so many ways, it's true that we only have this moment. This moment to pause and savor, this moment to imagine and wonder, this moment to reflect back and look forward, this moment to decide what we want for ourselves and for the people and world we love, this moment to take some small action. Losses become inflection points to notice whether we're using our "this moments" in ways that matter to us. Thank you for lending your hard-earned wisdom to this group, Jeanna. Sending you love!
Tough news to share...
You may have noticed I have been quiet for a few days, and anyone who knows me knows that I am open about life and the hard things that can come at us. I just needed space to process first. This past week we lost our little sister Emily, and our family has surrounded each other (we have a full house) to love and support each other though this tragedy that will forever change us all. Emily was an incredible artist, singer and musician. She saw the world in her own unique way. And although she struggled with a lot of demons, her ability to see the beauty around her and imbue that into her creative outlets was endless. She will be deeply missed. The service is this Friday, and right now we are just leaning into each other and this time together. This community is very important to us, and I am keeping an eye on things from a distance. 💚 I would love if you all would keep things going - share, ask questions, show up for each other. (This picture is the first pyramid picture we did with all the siblings, and we have taken many more of these over the years, but this takes me back. Emily is in the middle.)

Tasty Tuesday - Today we are highlighting...
Let's talk fermented foods! Sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, natto, kombucha, miso, tempeh—these aren't just trendy wellness foods. They're some of the most powerful tools we have for gut health. Why fermented foods matter: They're packed with beneficial bacteria (probiotics) that help restore balance in your gut microbiome. And when your gut is happy, everything else works better—digestion, immune function, nutrient absorption, even mood and mental clarity. But here's the key: Not all fermented foods are created equal. You want the real deal—naturally fermented, unpasteurized (pasteurization kills the good bacteria). Read labels. Look for "live cultures" or "raw." Start small. Your gut needs time to adjust. A spoonful of sauerkraut with meals. A few sips of kefir. Too much too fast can cause bloating or discomfort. My favorites: sauerkraut (Janet has a great recipe!), raw kimchi, and a good kombucha. What about you? Do you eat fermented foods? Have a favorite? Never tried them? Drop a comment—let's talk gut health! 💚

We always have kimchi in the house, which my husband buys from a local Korean grocer. We eat it over rice (I KNOW!) with an egg on top for breakfast. (Usually a late breakfast for me -- I'm not ready to face kimchi RIGHT when I wake up! 😂)
Tasty Tuesday - I need your thoughts!
Okay awesome community members, I want YOUR ideas for recipes you want to see us adding in the resources area. Chef Jen and I are working on new recipes around simple and shorter prep time, that of course incorporate quality whole foods. What are some recipes that you would love to see us include? They don't have to fit the simple and quick category - it can be anything!

I don't have specific recipes, but I do have a future (unofficially!) daughter in law with celiac, who also has to be careful of FODMAPs, so I'm curious what you've got :)
