Knee Pain: You're Treating the Wrong Spot
If you've got runner's knee, patellar tendonitis, or IT band issues, listen up: The pain is in your knee, but the cause is in underdeveloped muscles like your hips and glutes. Your knee is just taking the load your underdeveloped muscles are dropping. This is why we start every free member with the Injury-Proofing 101 guide. It's the essential first step to pain-free running. QUESTION: What's the biggest running ache or pain you've finally solved by strengthening a different body part? Share your win!

I had IT band issues before I ever did any form of S&c …. So important to look after the hips and Glutes. I really need to focus on that the next few months . I like using resistance bands to help with the hips

@Arno Tessers yeah I don’t have it on in the parks ….. only for the highway if I am not chatting to people! It’s such a strange mix of music from Disney to 80s to Lindsey Stirling and her violin ! I must say I love your music on the treadmill you tube video …. I listen to that at times … so cool… do you have it on Spotify ?
👑 Eliud Kipchoge Achieves the "Seven Star" Milestone
The GOAT completed his much-anticipated New York City Marathon debut on the famously hilly course: - Result: Kipchoge finished in 17th place with a time of 2:14:36.Though not his fastest time, still amazing when you think about it. - The Milestone: Despite the lower-than-expected place, his finish means the 40-year-old Kenyan legend has officially completed all six Abbott World Marathon Majors, earning the prestigious "Seven Star" Hall of Fame distinction. - Future Plans: Kipchoge's focus was clearly on the milestone, telling media he was focused on being a "real marathoner" by finishing all the majors. The news on his "huge announcement" (like running in Antarctica) is expected now that the race is done. - The Mission: Over the next two years, Kipchoge plans to compete in seven marathons across seven continents. - The Purpose: This "transition" (not retirement) is explicitly aimed at promoting the joy of running and raising funds and awareness for the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation, which supports educational and environmental causes worldwide. - Eliud: "With this project, I want to compete not only for records, but for the people. I want to continue to push myself to run at my best, but I also want to inspire, give back, and remind everyone that no human is limited." - He has also mentioned plans to test himself at the ultra distance, specifically taking on a 50km race in Saudi Arabia. His management team stated he intends to continue competing in the elite fields of these marathons, even if his primary goal is no longer winning. So the question remains, will Eliud, as a 40+ Ageless Runner, join the ranks of Dopey? Will we see him in full costume at the start line of a Disney Run? Who knows?

He is my total hero…. Such a humble man… I would love to see him at Dopey. I got a really hard time recently about Run Disney from my running coach and some others stating that Disney races are not real races. ….. I had to step away from that negativity !

@Arno Tessers it really is personal preference totally agree, I do think people should be more supportive of others preferences ! I love Run Disney … it got me running ! I would just faint if Kipchoge pitched up as Dopey 🤣 we would make him so welcome !💜💚

My win for the week was my first run since the Dublin marathon last weekend. I used the warm ups techniques that you shared and I did those before the run. I must admit I am very guilty at never doing any sort of warm up but will be using these going forward.

@Arno Tessers it’s a really great event so well organised and wow the support on the course really is something else. This year was very wet and cold and so many people came out and lined the streets of Dublin to support. The after celebrations are always good too … the Guinness is the best !
Attention RunDisney Runners! Your Home Base is Here!
Welcome to all our fellow runners who love a good medal and a morning jog down Main Street! If you’ve followed me from YouTube, you know my belief: We can run fast and injury-free for the castle, regardless of our age. This category, 🏰 RunDisney & Race Travel, is your dedicated space to talk about the fun, unique logistics of destination racing. Here’s Why This Category is Your Best Friend: • Solve Unique Problems: Ask questions about the things that only Disney runners deal with: 4 AM wake-up calls, managing the heat in Orlando, or how to walk the parks strategically after a Half Marathon. • Find Your Crew: Planning to run the Wine & Dine, Marathon Weekend, or Princess Half? Use this space to find meet-ups, share costume ideas, and celebrate those long training runs. • Share Your Medals! We want to see those race reports and medal photos! Post your triumph here and inspire the rest of the community. ACTION ITEM: Get Your Training Right! Since most race day issues come from pre-race training mistakes, your very first stop should be our free course in the Classroom. Go to the Classroom Tab now and start the Injury-Proofing 101 course. It will teach you the exact strength and mobility work you need to avoid the most common race-day injuries (like runner's knee or Achilles pain) that plague over-40 runners. We can’t wait to cheer you on through the corrals!
