Today was a day! I’ve been having on/off low back pain for years and these past few months have been having pretty persistent SI joint pain. My nervous system is hyper sensitive right now and is causing me to have some flushing of my skin when it gets activated. I’ve been going to PT and today I had a breakdown while I was there after he did something that caused a lot of discomfort. While it was a bit embarrassing to be crying in a office of people it also felt good to release what’s been building up for weeks. I’m feeling more hopeful after our session today. I’m also really looking forward to celebrating mine and my dads birthdays which are this week as well as my vacation to Texas that’s coming up soon! Feeling the need for rest and a reset.

Working on slowing down and being present this month. I find that I think I’m taking my time and yet when I take a step back I’m often moving quickly to get things done. I’ve intentionally started this practice with eating. I’m taking a few deep breaths before I eat and really trying to slow down my pace

Writing out my thoughts has been a really great opportunity to put this lesson into action. Taking it out of my head and down on paper creates space for me to ask “is this true?” and rewrite some of my old stories. I’ve been journaling every morning for over a year and it’s been so helpful for me. Outside of that getting into my body with somatics and breath work has been SO helpful!

Valentine’s Day can feel loud…like a need to prove you are loved. Post the flowers, show the world who loves you today. I’m challenging you today to put the commercialism and societal expectations of what Valentine’s Day “should be” aside and really embrace this day for what it could be - a true day of love - for others, and yourself. Real love is not a performance, it’s not a holiday, it’s not about a bouquet of overpriced roses… It’s about really honoring and nurturing the relationships in your life (most of all the one with you!) So today what if instead of proving who loves you with social media posts or comparing others posts to what you do or don’t have this Valentine’s Day, what if you asked yourself how can I love myself more today? What if today could be an invitation for you to soften, to sit with yourself, to speak kindly to yourself, to forgive yourself and to truly honor YOU. I hope you choose yourself today. Yesterday felt a little heavy. It’s tough some days to not get pulled into the constant negativity that seems to be out there these days. It feels weird to bounce from being happy/content to then feel like all everyone is doing is arguing and driving division. I know that how I feel is tied heavily to how much I am consuming. This morning I spent time with somatic movement and my goal is to be very mindful of what and how much I am consuming via social media. It’s my husbands birthday and I plan to celebrate him and remember that the life we are creating is what matters most to me right now.
