July 5th check in
Originally planned on spending the weekend in nature, but a work call on Saturday changed those plans. Turns out I’m actually happy it did… I come across as very extroverted, but I’m actually deeply introverted — I genuinely love my own company more than almost anything. But I also want more harmony between the two sides of me. I stopped by a friend’s party and just… let myself flow with it. So instead of retreating into my usual “introverted but socializing only with people I’ve known forever” mode, I actually smiled with my resting Russian face and met new people. 😃 Had one of the most wonderful times I’ve had in a while. Stayed up until sunrise, then kept the momentum going the next day cleaning, cooking, talking, watching the game, just being present with the community. Sometimes the plan changes and it’s exactly what you needed instead. 😌 Now very excited for the week ahead and determined to get at least 50% of those remaining required hours for school 🤓

I so identify with the extrovert-introvert thing! I can pretend to be the life and soul etc. But really I'm at my happiest on an empty beach or beside a bush stream with Billie-wolf and the sounds and smells of nature.

Recovery day from gym and currently doing two days on and one day off. Seems to be working with the work load at gym. Going pretty hard. Tanya and I have a good ally who sells peptides and gonna get a bro price for folks here. Stay tuned for that! Had a good morning coaching then helped Kai shoot videos which was fun. Got my writing in and a little substack post up about intro stuff for Master Maps book. https://open.substack.com/pub/philipfolsom/p/three-circles-of-people?r=1nfui2&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

I love both the enduring, hopeful truth and strength inherent in 'We are just people partnering with people, to serve other people'. Perhaps the true meaning of 'to serve' needs to be brought back into focus?

So following today's pack call... this is the podcast I recorded last week with Aegis Leadership's Chris Turkington. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW_-yZZCy8Y&t=15s
Warrior month starts tomorrow. Gird your loins!
The Warrior Archetype follows the Lover in the hero’s journey map and represents the need to take decisive action after the time required to heal and recover. This is the actual start of the next heroic phase of improving our lives. For some of us this is easy and exciting and for some of us this is hard and scary. Get to know your dragon in your story. Joseph Campbell says "The demon you can swallow gives you it's power and the greater life's pain the greater life's reply." ‘Decisive’ contains the root ‘cide’ which means to cut or kill and sometimes the Warrior action is to cut off things that no longer serve us. Cutting out refined sugar or scrolling are examples of Warrior Work. Warrior is also the house of discipline and relentless consistency which is required for the establishment of a new practice. Starting daily meditation, a morning ritual, going to sleep at a set time or even flossing daily are examples of Warrior Work. If you are serious about getting results in your life, this is the challenging but necessary phase of action. It is also the phase where we call in our allies who support us and hold us accountable. Post your clear and measurable goals for Warrior Month ON THIS POST. This will force us to clarify our goals and activate our allies for this month's quest.

I feel as if I've been in Warrior mode consistently over the past 4-6 weeks as work has been slow and I've switched to hustling for Culturate. Some green shoots appearing. Focusing on regular training (gym, home sets, stretching) but been struggling with ongoing knee issues. Need to watch my recurring pattern of push-push-push with no time to recover or joy or playtime. Both Lana and I tired and it shows.
