What up, y'all! This is Jerome aka Bboy Roam from Ill Immigrantz crew. Still breaking in my mid-40s, but I'm also somewhat of a FL bboy historian. I recorded a lot of events back in the 90's and early 00's. 🌎 From Orlando, but grew up in the Bay Area, CA before I started breaking 👟 I've been breaking forever haha. I had seen breaking in Cali in the early 90's but started seriously in about '97 when I was in High School. a friend from Cali who was a popper but was in a breaking crew (Tech Nine from Vallejo) moved here around '95 and brought some VHS tapes from battles and performances, and I made a copy to watch and learn (and found out later that those tapes have circulated Florida like wildfire). I've been breaking ever since. Found some like-minded friends who also wanted to learn and that's how it started. There were times where I took breaks from breaking (ha) for life events like raising my kids, but never too long. Its much harder to get back into it if you wait too long. And getting older, you realize that your body feels older if you don't stay active. Around '99 I ran into SKMZ at a few local jams, and after a few years became friends with them, then worked with them at Universal Studios and IoA, and have been close friends with them since. 🎵 I can't rock it like a lot of people, but The Mexican always puts me in the mood. There are a ton of breaks that I love though, especially those James Brown jams 🎯 Abstrak told me about the community he was building and I wanted to support in any way that I can. I consider him to be a master of movement and as I get older, i want to absorb while i can and pass on what i can as well. 🙌🏽 so I've actually started up my crew again after many years, mostly for some younger guys I've been mentoring. I started teaching my son and a few kids around his age (late teens). And that's one thing that I want to contribute wherever I can. having been around for such a long time, i feel like as "elders" we can share our experience and knowledge. There are hundreds of bboy tutorials but as I have seen in helping out some of the younger guys, nothing beats having actual feedback from someone that can tell you what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. I hope to help where I can. Also, I love breaking so much, I want to see how much I can still grow.
