Im Still Confuse on desire notion identification characteristic
Hi Nabeel, I watched CopyThat, and they explained about desire, notion identification, and characteristics, But I'm still confused and can't distinguish between identification and characteristics. I asked AI Gemini and Cloud, but they aren't consistent. example, like im still confuse is "I'm from [particular country]" is it characteristic or an identification? And "I'm a hardworking copywriter" and "I'm 18" I'm still confuse on how to distinguish them. Could you please explain further and differentiate between desire, notion, identification, and characteristics

@Sammy B In your example technically it could be either but context matters. Identity normally has emotion attached that link to who they are and want to be recognized as Characteristic is just an objective trait or fact about them So using your example of person from Indonesia. If they say I am from Indonesia that is more a characteristic because that is just a fact. BUT if they I am an Indonesian that now becomes identity because they are linking themselves to the cultural identity of the nation Hope this makes sense. I still need my morning coffee... I drink coffee - characteristic I am a coffee addict - identity Etc...
Idea, conversion, and sales copy
Hi Nabeel and friends I'm still confuse on our lecture yesterday. 1. idea, conversion, and sales copy is it a structure? so before we write a copy we should have the idea first and and how we will appeal to the reader(with BCD formula), and then we write a conversion copy to arouse the reader desire, and in the end we turn that desire to sales? 2.should we attach all BCD or we can just pick one(like we only pick benefit without curiosity and drama), or we should attach all 3 in our copy? thank you

It's not so much a structure as much as it is just a type of copy Depending on the funnel or purpose of the copy, you won't have all 3 types, sometimes it could be just 1 of those To get to the idea, you start in reverse. With the final offer. Then build out the conversion of what belief shift needs to happen to make the prospect ready to buy Then finally the idea is just the wrapper to create the intrigue needed to get the ball rolling And once again with BCD. It all depends. Some offers dont need all 3 to be present. Sometimes something super simple "As a nurse i swear by these shoes" can do the trick perfectly. Just depends. @Nabeel Azeez Does this sound about right?
Is this pyramid scheme... Or am I just going crazy
I am half joking, half serious. Once you dive deep enough into this niche you start hitting the bottom of "free" information. Everyone is teaching you copywriting basics, some people are teaching you psychology and persuasion but no one is teaching you how to be freelancer. Now lets not take that too literally, I know there are people teaching that but not for free. Nothing is ever truly free and good resources are hard to come by. I do find it fascinating - as new freelancer you have to teach yourself 50 different things and yet it is hard to find enough good and relevant information and guidelines to just start with something that is "good enough". I am not talking about software or quickly searchable info but the things that actually move the needle. Let me show you what you need to learn: creating online presence, learn how to pitch, cold calls/emails, how to do discovery calls, offer creation/packages, proposals, contract, good onboarding process, handling client communication and I am probably forgetting something important as well. Not even including the networking, being pleasure to work with, communication with clients, handling problems, etc. So you start searching just for one thing to start learning (discovery calls for examples) and literally everyone is asking to pay. Fair enough! But basically one person did all the hard work many years ago and asked people to pay to learn, then other people replicated whatever the og did and some of them start to offer same service which essentially creates pyramid scheme in a way. Or loop, whatever you want to call it. No one is creating something new, just ungatekeeping some information they gained by paying someone else and putting it in different packaging. And you have to be super picky as well because there is lot of grifters out there selling most generic info possible. Now the real question is: who is making good (beginner friendly) content for marketing/copy people on the biz side? And who is worth paying for once you get your first clients and can afford to invest? Like I have stomach knots just thinking about how should dicovery calls look like and what should I be saying without looking like a total dumbass. I simply cannot be making things up on the spot without losing every single bit of credibility each second I hesitate.

Agree with what @Anika Mathur said completely. If you want the most potent fast track, the skill direct coaching is the way to go, but the reality is that many cannot afford it or at least not in the beginning. There is also the fact that there is 2 skills at play for all of us trying to learn the craft and make good money doing so. The craft of copywriting itself and the art of selling yourself and your ability. You can be a god-tier writer, but if you cannot sell yourself effectively, making good money is a pipedream. There are many people in many trades that outperform their technically superior competition because they are simply better at selling themselves. (The Con in Conman is short for confidence after all) Since my interest in copy started more from a place of curiosity rather than a place of a career pivot, here are some of my choice resources and knowledge that I have gleaned Books are a great resource because, unlike YouTube or social media, in which anyone can post anything. It at least requires the author to have some skin in the game to filter out the riffraff. Here are some books i recommend (there are many more good books, but these are what i have read) For copy: Breakthrough Advertising; Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion; Ogly on Advertising; and Cashvertising For Sales and agency: Never Split the Difference; Creative Strategy and the Business of design; and Hormozi's books (Also Marty Neumeir's books are great if you are interested in brands and brand building) Course-wise, like Anika said, the RMBC method is solid if you want a madness amount of value. Copy That YouTube channel and their 24-hour megacourse is superb And to close this all off. Network. Network. Network and then network some more. Community with the right people can both open so many doors as well as teach and guide you on areas you lack confidence in or need help with.

@Em Ma As to not clutter the thread i will DM you
Dr. Strangewrite or: How I learned to stop resisting and love the copy
A sharing of my copywriting story. Curious to hear the experiences of other members of this community and their takes. My family once came from an upper-middle-class background, but in the last couple of decades, we have progressively fallen from that economic situation. As a result, frivolous spending was not something that we could afford to do. Also, as a result, opportunities to reduce spending and save money became of high interest to them. Over the years, I have had to talk my parents out of signing up for a number of scams that prey on older individuals using all the persuasive copy tricks in the book and the typical funnel structure. And thanks to this, I subconsciously created a very strong connection of persuasive copy, landing pages with VSLs = Scam or at least a highly exaggerated or inflated claim. Things like: Here is this secret that this person is willing to share that the government wants to keep from you… Municipalities hate people who use this little-known tool that could save them 50% of their power bill… You get the idea I viewed it as a tactic to be used when the product or offer itself could not be explained in very simple English. All smoke and mirrors, without ever admitting the offer was just predatory junk targeted at people least able to afford wasting money. Combine that with the endless stream of biz opp charlatans promising financial freedom for the price of thousands, sold to opportunistic yet naive viewers. It really left a genuinely sour taste in my mouth. Now let's catch up to the present, to when I began learning copy. To be frank, I hated it because of those deeply entrenched notions I had. It felt like learning the tools of manipulation rather than those of persuasion. I also think this played a role in my aversion to sales and cold outreach, but that's a story for another time… Eventually though. I had to face a realisation. The copy and mechanisms used are just tools. Like fire that can cook your food or warm your body, it can just as easily burn your house down. The fire doesn't decide which one happens. The hand holding it does.

@Em Ma Unfortunately, a lot of bad actors don't get the "karma" or any repercussions for the damage or injury caused. As a result, the feedback loop that is shown is you F around and almost never find out. That said, there are also simply people who are desperate to change their situation to the point of bending their moral compass in order to make that happen. But absolutely true. The world would be a much simpler and better place if people were just honest by nature.

Here is a list of potential options. But do be aware that there are always trade-offs and sacrifices that come with free or close-to-free stuff. Some won't have the functionality, or others will require a skill set to actually work on. With that said Payments: Wise CRM: Mailchimp or ClickUp Forms: Google Forms Wix(beginner) WordPress(More experience needed) (excluding domain and hosting) Call Scheduling: Calendly Design/wireframing: Figma Hotel: Trivago 😂 Hope this helps
