New Training: The Instagram Profile Edit For Doulas
Before I share this with the world, you get it first. 🀍 I just finished something I've been wanting to make for a while, a free guide for setting up your instagram so that it is google-searchable, warm, and inviting. This is step ONE to getting clients from Instagram. Before content, before strategy, before any of it, your profile has to be set up in a way that provides clarity to your clients (who you are, who you serve, where you're based, etc). The video walks you through three simple changes that you can make today to make it easier for the right mamas to find you and feel you. It takes less than 10 minutes(!!!) to implement and I wish someone had told me this when I first started. Watch it here (or in the classroom tab!) And if you update your profile after watching, PLEASE come back and tell me what you changed. DM me, I genuinely love seeing it. 🀍

@Jill Sparrow Ah okay if you aren't willing to go further than 2ish hours then maybe travel doula isn't the best term. I think putting your state name in your name field should help! If you ever talk about your location in posts I would say you're a doula in your state (instead of your little small town). Bonus tip: I would also put the location of ALL your posts as your state name or biggest city you are near's name!

@Michelle Marple So glad it helped!! Okay for your handle I would keep it super simple, something like @michellethedoula or @michelle.birthdoula works perfectly. The most important thing is that it ideally has the word doula in it somewhere so it's clear what you do! You can always evolve it later but don't let not having a business name hold you back from getting started. your name is completely enough πŸ’›
Best (and Worst) Doula Training Thread (Everyone drop your training here!)
Let's make this a living resource for our community. Whether it was a big name in the space, an independent educator, an online course, or something totally off the beaten path, I want to hear it all. Tell us: - The training/certification you did - What you loved about it - What was missing (we keep it real here) - Who would you recommend it to?

I'll go first!! I did Guardians of Birth with Aya Maria (virtual, 4 months). I loved this! She is a midwife in Colombia and blends modern medicine and ancestral rituals so well. She walked us through every intervention and the pros and cons of each. I wasn't expecting to learn so much medical knowledge about conception and pregnancy, but it was fun to learn. You also make a lot of art: clay pottery, felted placentas and altars around your home. So be prepared to enter a space of deeply connecting to art, nature, and your lineage. She also challenges a lot of dogmas in the birth space and opened my perspective in a lot of ways. I also did Doula Thrive with Sarah Soleil (virtual, 1 year). Sarah is a wise doula and a Spirit Baby Communicator. This was my first training. I got an in-depth dive into the doula world and learned through storytelling. She mentored us into setting up our business for a whole year and I really liked the slow pace of learning. She also blended the spiritual parts of birth with the practical.

@Hannah Everett Ah no that one was virtual!! I WISH though. She's now offering in-person events that I've been eyeing πŸ‘€
One of my teachers <3
Aya Maria ("seed to body" on instagram) released a free class "The Art of Self Directed Birth Care". If you watch it, lmk your reflections below! I also highly recommend her Guardians of Birth training that she is leading soon :)

Raise your hand if you have another job
I am so curious about where you all are at with this. Are you still working another job alongside your doula work? Drop your answers below: Do you still have another job? If so, what do you do? and are you enjoying it? Is leaving it on your heart someday, or are you perfectly happy keeping both? And if you have already made the leap to full time doula work... what was that transition like for you? What made you finally do it? No right or wrong answers here. This space is for real talk <3

@Paige Rodenberg I love that so much! πŸ₯Ή
Happy Love Month! What do you LOVE witnessing? What do you love about being a doula?
I'll go first. I love that moment in birth when a client has been saying "I can't do this"... and then something shifts. It's like something ancient takes over. They go primal and they just... do it. Every time. 🀍 I never get tired of witnessing that shift. What do you love witnessing? What do you love about this job?
