Summer in Kids Ministry
What camps do you do in the summer in your kids ministry if you don't do a traditional VBS?

We are taking our middle schoolers to camp this year. Last year we did VBS, Art summer camp, sports camp, adventure camp, and water camp. These camps were for our ages 3-12 years of age.

New Family Check-In's
Hi Everyone, I would like to hear how you all do your new family check in process. We are a small church, we have two regualr family check-in I-Pads and one i-Pad for new families. Sometime it takes 15 minutes to get them all entered into Planning Center depending on how many members of the household you have to enter. When there is another new family waiting in line it makes it tough to get them checked in quickly and show them to their rooms. We have one lead that helps check in new families by collecting and imputting them in the system, we have one volunteer who helps with regular check in's. I know for bigger churches it is easier but would still love to hear ideas. For those with smaller churches how to do manage this? Thank you for your help.

@Rachel Orf Yes, we have the phone on our tablet and we have tried filling out the form. It just take so long and we are trying to find a way that won't take so long and to simplify it for the visitors.

@Jeremy O'Neill This is interesting, I didn't know you could make a landing page. I will have to check this out. Thank you for the information. This is very helpful.
Staffing Question!
Hey everyone! If you have multiple staff members on your Kids or Family Ministry team, I'd love to hear how your roles are structured. Right now, our team is organized by ministry area (PreK, Elementary, and Family Experience), but I'm exploring whether that's the most effective setup. How is your team divided up? Do staff members oversee specific age groups, focus areas, or responsibilities? I'd love to hear what has worked well for your church and any insights you've gained along the way. 😊

We are a small church with 90 kids, I am the only full time staff. I have a part time staff person who helps with scheduling for 0-12 years. We have another very part time team member who does middle school and youth. My resposibility is everything that does not involve scheduling and the Middle school/Youth is resposible for his events, curriculum, volunteers, etc. sorry I am not much help. It sounds like you may need a larger churchs input.
Kids Ministry Jobs
Hi Everyone, Sorry for all the questions I am pretty new and still trying to figure it all out. Iam also currently doing everything myself. I do have a part time staff person who only does the schedule and a few odds and ends and helps me with events and it is becoming to much for me. You all talk about different job titles within Kids Ministry for voluteers. I hear Check-In, leads, coaches, what other positions are there? Where can I find information on each of their purposes so that I can make our own Job Descriptions for the positions we might need for our ministry and see what fits our needs in kids ministry. I have googled a few but there are so many, I just was curiouse what you all use when you are a small church and their purpose.
Class Age Question
I have a family who has a Daughter going into 4th grade and son who should be going into 2nd grade. They are homeschooled, mom says son is going into 3rd grade and would like them both to be in our Hang Time classroom which is 3-5th grade. Would you place the son into Hang Time with sister. We tried to explain the importance with being with kids his own age to help him find his own identity in Christ and find friendships with kids his own age. Mom is worried about him not being with sister and moving up with her. Since moms says he is going into 3rd grade homeschool she wants to move him up. What are your thought on this? I am feeling like it is possibly and anxiety thing for either or both son and mom. I want to be able to meet them where they are but also help them grow.

Thank you for the information. I will keep this in mind when planning our restructer. We are a small church and about half the culture here is home schooled. This family inperticular are new but very brazen so I want to make sure our policies can be very clear and concise. I was pretty clear on our policies and she pushed back without giving me all the details and information about her kiddo. We did reach a solid agreement so I feel confident we have found a good agreement. Thank you again for your help
