Are points paid on RE purchase deductible?
As I understand, property taxes and insurance paid through escrow on an investment property are tax deductible. I was just looking at the 1098 for a property I purchased this year. We paid about 15K in points for our interest rate. Is that 15K deductible as well? Thanks for the info!

Question regarding personal use days for STR
I am working on the tax prep organizer for rental businesses. I am just curious about the question for personal use days for a STR property. Would someone mind explaining why this matters? Just want to know in case this impacts how we use our properties in the future. Thanks!

STRs
Hey team! Just bought our first STR and launching in spring! Since we are early in the year, would you guys suggest trying to close on one more this year? Or is it best to spread it out 1 STR purchase per year to gain maximum Cost segg benefits to offset W2 income?

@Ernie Kim hi! My husband and I bought two STRs in 2025. We’ve set up both ourselves after getting them professionally designed. The properties are 5-6 hours from where we live and we have three kids 5 and under. I’ve stayed home with them while my husband has done all the work. It’s a ton of work for both of us, but works mostly because he doesn’t have a day job and we are willing to go through these challenging times for the long term benefit. If he worked, I think we’d have to pay to have the work done for us, otherwise it would just take too long to launch
