The wider it is, the more you can store up there. Now, I see a roll up doorway where your 10 foot section ends. Is there any reason that pulling vehicles into the shop would interfer with the support beams...that might be a consideration that being 2 ft inboard of the doorway would give more clearance. On the gantry crane, you can always put the end support beam for it all the way adjacent to the wall and then the crane could be used to lift heavy stuff up onto the mezzanine. Point is, gantry crane support beam doesn't necessarily have to go at the end of the mezzanine, it could extend on over to the wall.

Nice progress!

Spent Labor Day week at the farm clearing some voluntary tree islands where farm stuff had been placed out in the fields years ago. Kept the cows from nipping off the seedlings and the bushhog / hay cutters from removing them. First attachment is me taking out one of the trees with the backhoe, 2nd picture is the before tree island and 3rd picture is after using the bush hog to mulch up everything. My buddy took all the cedars to use for fence posts. Nice distraction from turning wrenches and fixing stuff for the week, although if any of you farm, you know the tractors and equipment break all the time. So, yeah, I was turning wrenches anyway.🤣

Unbelievable the shipping costs on relatively small items! Wonder if a guy could make a living hauling stuff up there! Thanks for the updates.
