๐Ÿ™Œ Big shoutout to @Steven Meanley Stephen joined us just over a year ago. High cholesterol, the heaviest he'd ever been, and a doctor telling him things needed to change. Fast forward 12 months, 30 lbs down, two half marathons completed, and a completely different person. He sat down with me on the podcast and told the whole story. Great story! Totally understand what Steven says about nutrition, weighing and recording food etc. when youโ€™re not doing the cooking yourself. I was in exactly the same position when I started this process a couple of months back and - cards on the table - my poor wife did all the early โ€œheavy liftingโ€ in terms of getting the right ingredients, weighing them & cooking the meals. Having at times seen her exasperation, Iโ€™m now taking more personal responsibility & going food shopping and am reading & comparing nutrition labels before buying, to extract the most/best nutrition from every calorie consumed. Also Iโ€™ve switched to overnight oats with seeds & fruit for breakfast (and I make them for my wife & myself every day) and - hold the front page - am even cooking the occasional lunchโ€ฆ As an aside, my wife says sheโ€™s feeling healthier too & has lost a few pounds without really trying.
WIN THE MORNING. WIN THE DAY.
Letโ€™s be honest for a second. If your mornings are reactiveโ€ฆyour days are reactive. And if your days are reactiveโ€ฆyour results are average. This slipped for me slightly over the past few weeks... straight on the phone, straight into work, no structureโ€ฆ And I felt it: - Lower energy - Worse recovery - More stress - Less control Thatโ€™s the cost. So this week, we reset. IT STARTS THE NIGHT BEFORE Winning the morning isnโ€™t about willpower. Itโ€™s about preparation. Before you go to bed: - Plan tomorrow (training, meals, priorities) - Get what you need ready - Remove decisions Because the more decisions you have to make in the morningโ€ฆthe more likely you are to make the wrong ones. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Planning = clarity ๐Ÿ‘‰ Clarity = execution THE MORNING STANDARD No negotiation. โ›” No snooze button. Every time you hit snooze, youโ€™re delaying action. Thatโ€™s a habit, and it carries into everything else. ๐Ÿ“ต No phone for 20โ€“30 minutes. Donโ€™t let the world dictate your mindset before youโ€™ve even started your day. ๐Ÿ’ง Hydrate immediately, 750ml water minimum, I add electrolytes. Wake the system up. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Move your body. It doesnโ€™t need to be perfect. Stretch. Walk. 20 push-ups. Just get your heart rate up and body moving. THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE Average people wait to feel ready. High performers create momentum early. You donโ€™t rise to your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. My essential evening routine is gym bag packed & ready & with all "supply" levels checked, overnight oats prepared & refrigerated ready for the morning (my wife like this as I prepare hers at the same time), water bottle pre-filled with pouch of electrolytes next to it ready for mixing, face shaved ready for early start โฐ

Hi all, Iโ€™m Jeff from Kent, England, in my early 60s. Iโ€™ve been on a weight loss โ€œmissionโ€ for the past 7.5 months, mainly diet & daily power walks but went back to a gym at the end of January, after almost 20 years break. Realised that whilst I have the same enthusiasm for fitness as before, I needed focus, guidance on techniques, someone to apply the brakes when Iโ€™m overdoing things (thanks Simon & James). Also needed a huge amount of help with making every calorie count towards the right macros and to lose that stubborn last few kilos of unwanted weight. Have lost 55kg so far and feeling really great right now!

Returned to gym end of Jan 2026 after nearly 20 years break and huge weight gain. Diet, walking & gym have worked, 55kg lost in 7.5 months.
