Restoring History
A huge fire destroyed one of Glasgow's historic buildings this weekend. Now a big debate has started: what should replace it? Some people say historic buildings are beautiful but hard and expensive to convert to modern standards. They can be energy-inefficient and difficult to make accessible. Others argue modern buildings are boring and soulless compared to the bold architecture of the industrial era. So what do you think—protect historic character or build modern and sustainable? Let me know in the comments.

This is really unfortunate. I definitely much prefer older architecture to new. (Probably part of the reason I moved to Brighton from Milton Keynes soon as I could 😅) Personally think older buildings should be held onto for as long as possible and would love to see something get built that at the very least takes inspiration from the building that stood there prior.

As someone who is currently travelling Australia. I find people tent to sleep on the places they live and don’t often explore their home countries. Me being one of them, I would love to learn more about some of the hidden gems/historical areas in the Uk that are worth a visit when I’m back on home soil. Let me know if you have any ideas 🤔

@Debbie Zsolnai I spent a week in Tasmania last month and I was a big fan. I would love to spend some more time out there! when it comes to mainland, I think my favourite part has just been living on the road. Even driving the Nullabour for the first time was a good crack and there is quite literally nothing to see 🤣 (less exciting the second time around) Some worthy mentions: The Wave Rock in WA was pretty cool, I spent a day in Adelaide and loved the energy there, great ocean road, and plenty of random little places in between that I struggle to remember the names of...
Current Affairs topics
Just wondering what current affairs topics people might be interested in discussing. @Joey Knight you mentioned this was something you were interested in. Any suggestion of things you'd like to discuss?

As someone who doesn’t go looking for current affairs I’m always intrigued to get a rundown of what other people are concerning themselves with. What’s something you’ve been keeping on top of the last few weeks Simon?

@Simon Nelson haha, yes, that would definitely be the elephant in the room. Although, sometimes I feel WW3 has been happening for years already. To me, it almost feels the majority won’t believe it’s WW3 until western countries are being drafted or obviously effected. But that’s coming from someone with a lack of information…

Unfortunately these calls are a little out of my time zone being in the southern hemisphere 🫤 Should be able to make it when I’m back on home soil!

Hello people, I’m from England and keen on improving my history and geography knowledge. I’ve always been an inquisitive person, but unfortunately School just sent me to sleep 😴. I’m hoping this Skools educational approach will be better suited to me!
