Using AI to illustrate
Hi there! I’m so excited to be here! Thank you for having me! I have a quick question: Because of very limited finances, the only way I can publish my books is if I use AI to illustrate them myself. I know many people are against that. If I had any other option I would take it. Either I use AI or I can’t publish. Period. I’d like to know if I’m still welcome here based on that. I’ve encountered harsh criticism for going the AI route. I’d just like to know where I stand. Is anyone else using AI to illustrate? Hoping I can still be part of this group!!

@Katelyn Evans same! On so many levels! I do endless prompt tweaking, edits, etc. to get just the right image. I pour HOURS AND HOURS into my images. I just watched one of Harleigh’s videos on YouTube and she said to never use AI for illustrations so, like you, I want to know if we’re welcome if we use AI

@Kerry Maceranka I just checked out your book. Your illustrations are gorgeous!! And it’s obvious to me that you put A LOT of work in to it. AI is most certainly NOT the easy way out-I would say you nailed it. I also see that you have a colouring/activity companion book. Wonderful idea!
Writers
✍️ Writers, I’m curious what part of writing do you love the most… and what part do you secretly dread? For me, I love the creative rush of starting a new story but editing? That’s where I start bargaining with the universe. 😅 How about you?

@Jennifer Griffith I haven’t solved it. lol. I have a gift for finding all sorts of ‘important’ things that are more pressing than editing.

@Jennifer Griffith I have ZERO funds for editing or illustrating and such. I have to be a DIYer for awhile. But Ty for the offer!
So I did a thing yesterday!
I went into a local bookstore and asked if I could talk to someone about getting my book on their shelves. Went with book and flyer in hand and they told me I had to submit to their website. They took my info, gave me their cell phone number, and said that when it's in their system they would love to set up a book signing! What?! How cool is that! First time ever doing anything like that! So excited!

Advice on Font Style and Color for Children's Book on Sadness
Hi everyone! I’d love some advice on font choices for my book. I’m attaching the title page and a few of the inside pages — the illustrations were done by an illustrator, but I’m not sure what font style, layout, or color would work best with them. Any suggestions and ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of my first children's book!
My first children's book "Clark the Mountain Beaver and His Big Adventure" was written 10 years ago!!! Back in 2015 print-on-demand was not readily available for colored illustrations so I had it printed the old fashioned way. It is now 2025 and I am releasing a second edition with major modifications and with the help of KDP. This second edition will be able to reach a whole new generation of children all over the world!!! 🥳 Launch date is November 20, 2025. 🎉
