Skating in public...with no skates

One Foot Traveling Pivots
I've been struggling with these for at least year. I've made some progress. Hopefully will get help here.

I hear you. I’ve been practicing one foot shuffles and I’ve stripped it back to quarter turns on my toe and heels and I’m definitely seeing an improvement. I actually managed to do a one foot pivot moving but I still struggle to keep that off leg out in front of me. We got this though 💪🛼

It has taken me 2 years to be able to do shoot the duck due to hip mobility. I have a job where I sit for the majority of the day 😳 which is not helpful to skating. But how are you able to this? I have decent one foot balance but cannot get low enough over my skate leg to do this. Have you practiced pistol squats off of your skates?

@Juneza lee Alcibar I can get midway 😂 I then use the leg that’s off the floor to go on the outside 2 wheels to stabilise as I come back up. Still looks fancy but I will keep trying 😁 thanks for the inspo 🛼🤩

90s RnB or anything that has a beat I can bounce to are my go to. But tbh I also like playing around with different genres to see how they fit.
It's not just the falling that humbles you....
The amount of times I've thought that I understood a move.... I'm talking about studied it on repeat from multiple sources, multiple angles, dissected it, and thought I executed it correctly.... Only to realize months later that I understood only 25% of it, got 25% totally wrong, and still have another 50% of technicalities I didn't even consider now come across my radar.... Is unbelievable. The first time this happened, I was totally disheartened. It has happened many times now. I've come to realize it's part of the process.. And have learned to appreciate those moments of deeper understanding, and to let go of resentment over the need to backtrack in training. There's no timeline, and my progress is definitely not linear. But there is progress, and I'm grateful to be on this journey 🙏💜🛼

This is especially true if you’ve learnt a move online and then someone sees you doing it in person and says that you’re doing ok but you should do it this/that way. Balance exercises and filming yourself helps as it lets you know if you’re in your knees enough or not. Or if you’re not balanced enough. I’m usually not 😂 even though I tell myself bend your knees, it’s never enough 🙄
