Question for Nath and team
Hopefully you can give some guidance on how to calm gypsy in the outside world? She’s awesome walking down a road that doesn’t heavy traffic with people or dogs.. She is great with the sit stay etc We have watched her videos where in a controlled environment she was walking amongst dogs she got minimally distracted .. But She is still getting over anxious when placed in a busier environment.. Whilst the training Eliza and the rest of the team have done are doing has been awesome, we are wondering if one on one for Gypsy would be best suited to her situation, we took on Lexie’s advice today changing our commands to what you all use (to avoid confusion) to see if this would help , but she still barked ( adding wagging tail) whilst walking as well as when she was laying down taking in the sites🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Any advice on next steps would be appreciated, as we are not confident training in a controlled environment Is the option for her? Thanks Jan & Mike

@Jennifer Mcfarlane hi Jennifer thanks for your message, gypsy loves her walks too, just not busy places and other dogs sets her on edge, She had a good outing today wasn’t as busy and only few dogs her tolerance wasn’t over the edge today, 🙌 Can only get better🐾🐾 Hope your girl reaches her goals 💞🐾
Taking it all in!!
Gypsy calmly enjoying watching the hustle & bustle of the marina today, was ok with some doggy’s, showing a marked improvements after her 2 week of the academy… Thanks Eliza your doing an awesome job with gypsy on her reaction to other four legged babies,

@Lex Stephens thanks for your input lex, and yes agree with you many dogs can hold reactions whilst sitting and watching the world go by, unfortunately not Gypsy she was attacked by another dog that was known to her for no apparent reasons, now we are rebuilding her confidence in herself along with the trust that she can relax and rest up with other dogs around.. Since being with Walkys Gypsy is showing more confidence when walking in a busier environment with other dogs now, this exercise was suggested by Eliza to help gypsy taking in her surrounds in a calm setting to build further awareness, acceptance and confidence, which is working really well for her, which is an added extra to rebuild her trust in the world!👌👌💞

@Sian Isaac thanks for your feedback Sian, she’s only sitting for short periods, whilst we grab a coffee or lunch then we are off again to find a spot for picnic time, gypsy does love her puppy chinos! Then of for long walk back to the car.. Process is working well, and having gypsy being happy & confident again is a positive goal for us all🎉🎉🫶🐾
Stair Regression
Hi legends, My German shepherd, now 6 months old, keeps regressing with stairs. She does them quite fine (up and down) and then she’ll randomly miss a couple and slip down and then loses her confidence. Then after a week or two she’s good again. All I can put this down to is growth spurts and becoming uncoordinated with her body as it grows. She also thinks she’s much tinier than she is I’m convinced. For context they’re internal stairs so unless we make her a full time outside dog (which we don’t want to do) the stairs are non negotiable. I know ideally she wouldn’t have any due to their back legs but we do. Is this normal? Is there anything else that could be causing it? She’s 28kgs so I can’t keep carrying her down the stairs when she regresses and I want to avoid keeping her outside all the time. Thanks in advance!

I used to walk up and down our stairs until gypsy got the hang of them, didn’t take long to master thankfully, (bonus was getting my steps up so win win!!) We used baby gates on the stairs to keep gypsy grounded whilst she was learning to walk up & down the stairs, we’ve left them there so she can’t get into mischief when she’s not supervised🐾🐾

🎯 The Vision Behind It All | Calm Collective Replay
This morning’s replay is a little different. We didn't just talk about dog training. We talked about why Walkys exists. The vision of helping save 10,000 dogs from unnecessary behavioural euthanasia. What that number really means. 10,000 dogs that stay in their homes. 10,000 families that don't experience heartbreak. 10,000 opportunities to create more calm, more understanding, and better lives for both dogs and humans. We also shared some exciting updates about where we're heading next. New ways we're building community. New ways we're delivering education. New ways we're creating value for dog owners long before they ever need professional help. Because the future isn't just about training dogs. It's about creating a movement of owners who understand their dogs, support each other, and help raise the standard of dog ownership across Australia. If you've ever wondered where The Calm Collective fits into the bigger picture, this replay will give you a glimpse behind the curtain. Watch the replay, drop your thoughts below, and let us know: 👉 What would you love to see us create next that would help you and your dog succeed? The journey to 10,000 starts one dog, one family, and one conversation at a time. 🐾❤️

Well done guys, great podcast Nath love the concept saving those poor babies from euthanasia 🙌 Along with you all helping not only our dogs, but their humans as well🐾 Can’t wait to see the podcasts you are putting together to continue your good work in saving all dogs from euthanasia, it’s hard enough when you have too for health reasons😢 Mike & I can’t thank you all enough in helping to bring our gypsy back to her forma self, the need for outside influence after 2 one on ones and hearing today she is relaxing around other dogs was absolutely music to our ears, still a way to go but we are now on the right road in getting our gypsy back💞🐾
