Questions
I have 3 problems 1. My teams always start slow and end better how can I fix that 2. Graduated 7 seniors and how to handle that transition period 3.How to teach a team with sub par decision making skills and help them to think and play thr game

I have been a part of teams that have graduated 5-8 seniors a couple of times. The biggest thing to remember is that every team is different, and each kid will bring their own benefits with them. The second thing I like to remember is comparison is the thief of joy, so make sure that you don’t get caught up in trying to make this year match previous years. The growth and development of the kids who are not great at reads would be my main victory this year in this case.

Offseason Blueprint!
We had a great summer this year when the boys actually showed up. It was a great reminder that I cannot want to work more than the boys who are playing. I tried to focus on very few things this summer and I know that we did get better in those areas. Thank you for putting time into the off season blueprint as it helped me get my thoughts organized and put us on a good track to continue to develop.

@Andy Atkins absolutely agree. The kids that made it took a big step. Kids that didn’t fall behind. Like anything in life, if you want to be good you have to put in some time. So instead of being frustrated, I chose to remember I can’t control what they want, the choices they make, and who shows up. Summer is just always a good reset for my mindset on who’s coming up in our system.

Struggling offense-Varsity HS
Fellow coaches. We are struggling to score. My pre season goal was to average close to 60ppg. We just played our first game is barely got over 30 points. Trust me, I’m not overreacting, as we’ve had the same problem for years. I believe in conceptual basketball, but for whatever reason… my players don’t thrive in it right now. Giving them freedom to make choices has not panned out thus far and I believe we need structure. Do you have any recommendations for a continuity style offense, that also allows players to make their own decisions at times. I keep hearing implement FLEX, but I haven’t always been the biggest fan.

When we get stuck we go to Princeton chin action and try to put pressure on the rim via cuts instead of the drive.
