I just started playing bass in August to help my wife's band. They play rock with a bit of punk influence, and the songs sound best with a pick. That said, one of the strumming patterns is moving fast for me. I'm holding the pick closer to my palm now and that has helped, but does anyone have any other tips for speed?

I was asked to learn to play bass for a band and got about two weeks in before they ended up getting rid of their drummer and deciding to start over. I want to keep going and have started trying to learn some other songs, but I want to do more than just ride the roots. Where should I start working to become a complete player?

How many have got their kids guitars to see if they get into it?

This project with my son will hopefully make memories that will last far longer than I will. Such a great experience. I am so proud of my boy!
