Darkest night of the soul scene
First attempt at the intro scene for the doc. Setting the turning point that made it all change in Charlie's life. Music is just a test for now, it will probably change. But I would love to hear any ideas and feedback on music, sounds, types of editing that can increase the tension of the scene, maybe send links with references of other edits etc. I have many other shots also filmed that are in a similar vibe (mud, dark, weird moving hands on a tree, running in the forest, emerging from underneath a pile of dead leafs...). Let me know your thoughts!

I will have more of a think on this, but I do have a couple of initial thoughts: The shots are really nice, but my instinct is that I want to see more of the shots you've included as photos - maybe even some quick flashing cuts. The music in my opinion could generate more impact - my instincts say some delicate piano paired with the mud, the archival footage and the story could be very powerful. Then building to a moments silence, with the silent scream (perhaps backed to a long 'beep' as if a heart rate monitor has flatlined). Thank you for sharing this. I feel like I need to go and give Charlie a hug for a week.
Sharing my first doc scene with you!
This scene is probably going to change depending on the scenes before and after but I wanted to test what VO could flow with it, the type of music... It is one of the most beautiful lights I got to shoot, so I was excited to make a little edit out of it. I'm open to feedback of course. I just wanted to show the type of content I'm working on right now for this documentary. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/t61vty6ppmnnvl7oz380i/Lucia-s-grave-Roots-of-play.m4v?rlkey=8i24dagx4bzkfeia1rznr46pr&st=qe54jfu1&dl=0

I want to reiterate what I said in the meeting last night - just beautiful. You've revealed yet another wonderful facet to Chaz. Delicate and vulnerable, strong and inspiring. You have a super keen ability to 'get out of the way' as a cinematographer and filmmaker - if that makes sense - your visuals are on point, and your capacity to weave a story through is equally impressive. The result is a seamless experience, where you barely notice you are being led. Which in my opinion is one of the most important and valuable skills as a filmmaker. If I were to pick at one tiny thing after watching it a second time (and this is only a personal preference thing) - it is that I don't reeaaly think you need the vertical lines moving across the archival footage. It's a little distracting for me. But that's it. Anyway! Amazing, beautiful work.. again!
Finished Benji's short doc for IG 💫
I'm waiting for my friend's confirmation about his name (I don't want to misspell it). This would be the final version for IG part of a series of short docs to promote the full length documentary about Roots of play. Let me know what you think ;) > It finishes at 2:45min, the rest after that is not important.

I absolutely LOVE this. So inspiring, so wholesome. Beautiful footage, beautiful words from Chaz, and so neatly packaged. Nice work!
