Personal Finance, Rules? Or Ruin?
I’ve read almost every popular personal finance book. And some unpopular ones too. I think most of the authors mean well. But… For most business owners… Especially internet based biz owners… Most of the personal finance rules RUIN a biz person’s chance at true financial independence. This is why… …even though biz owners make more than the average, they often don’t have much to show for it except higher levels of stress, family discord and health issues. So… I thought maybe? It might be useful to dissect some of the “popular” personal finance philosophy. Rules? Or Ruin? If this would be helpful… Sound off by sharing a common piece of personal finance you were “taught.” 👇 Rooting for Ya, Travis PS The “rule” that I followed which semi-retired me at 38, I’ve never found in a personal finance book!

It took me until 40 to figure out personal that works for me and none of the classic stuff does… The biggest one that always failed me was to focus on savings… I found some ways that worked but honestly, I love having great life experiences and eating good food, so it never really lasted. Now I do something that has totally flipped everything I ever learned or heard on its head… And most people think I am insane for doing it. Because of that, I don’t really share it with anyone… Even though, once you “get it”, you realize it can create financial freedom in just a few short years without having to change the way you live. It takes a little more than a short post to explain but might be fun to share it in the community because you all are just a little crazy like me… If that’s something Travis would want to do, I’d be down.
F.I.R.E. Community = Shared Mission / Movement
Did a juicy comment on @Dale Backers post about creating his mission based offer, and how his mission can be used for attraction and for the retention side of house... then @Arthur Koster said I should share this as a post...so here we go. As we suggested on this post... the first thing we need is to create our 'Mission based offer',. The Mission = "specific tribal identity" + "transformational result" + "unique plan" It not only creates the mission for your people to be a part of on the front end (attraction) But it also becomes the roadmap for how to run the community for engagement and retention. Using @Dale Backers skool (post here)... He nailed it with "Cash Flow Creators" as the specific "tribal identity". The "transformational result" = $100 to $2,000 a month (from income machines you can build from home after the kids go to bed." ) - i'd say $1k avg for easier visualization of promise. Then with ownership and operation of "income machines" as the unique method, there's no limit to the trainings and offers you can fit inside that narrative. All models of getting there, from experts around the internet, can be stuffed in like a vending machine that cashflows each month to both parties, also proving the cashflow creator model at play. Then... once you get them into the community, that's when you INDOCTRINATE them into the mission. We don't want to just onboard them onto the platform and show them where they can access content... We work to indoctrinate them into what it means to be a Cash Flow Creator and show them how to behave and belong so they feel like "one us us" and actually engage. A Cash Flow Creator is someone who makes internet money with no fulfillment using income machines so that... (the WHY)

This was so good!!! I have been looking for literal actions to take, feeling a little unsure in my steps and this was so helpful. I need to revisit my mission and create a little more clarity too. Appreciate this so much @Mike Tielemans
Will a community be HOT? or NOT?
How can you KNOW if a community is shaping up to be FIRE material? If you want to run your "un-business" from your cell phone in an hour a day... ...without NEEDING employees ...without you NEEDING to run ads ...without FUNNELS and sales people and such There is one FACTOR that's more important than any other. If you've started your group and have 56 members... The first thing you should do is NOT necessarily run an auction...or any type of campaign. It's okay to do that, but it doesn't guarantee that your community will ultimately grow without you doing all the work. What does? 👉SHAREABLITY FACTOR When you get your "seed members" that could be 50, 100 or more... You want to FIND OUT if your members will SHARE the MOVEMENT/MISSION of your community. It's pretty straightforward. I tested here in CFM when we were about to cross 500 Flames. ===>Here was the post Take a look at how many members we have NOW! (11 days later) I've got more advanced ways to get members to share (Audience Multiplier Campaign, but that's for another day.) If they SHARE your community. That means your MOVEMENT and/or MISSION are on target. If they don't... You need to dig into convos, polls, and posts to find a CHANGE IN THE WORLD they are more passionate about. Remember... YOU don't have to be the EXPERT. You are the CURATOR/PRODUCER! Like a movie producer, your job isn't to act in the movie, hold the camera, work the lighting or even FUND the movie. You need to have a GREAT SCRIPT, that gets the ACTORS excited to be a part of the movie, once you have the GREAT ACTORS, then investors are excited to FUND the movie. Now... Please don't try to do ALL OF THIS IN YOUR HEAD. Yes, you want to have a THEORY of your MOVEMENT and MISSION... But I am NEVER SMART ENOUGH to know with certainty if it will align.

I love your reference to your town and mayor above, it gives me a lot of clarity. And the reminder that what I want is freedom and money, that doesn’t mean I have to be THE ONE, it means my MOVEMENT needs to MATTER. So questions… where can I dig in more to posts, polls and ways to hone into what matters to the people I want in the community? I want to get more strategic about getting to the root of it. So far I’ve just taken inspired action but I really want to get more intentional

@Travis Sago I feel like there is a shift in my mind that I am close to making but I have struggled to get to. It's something around getting out of my own head and into the shoes of my person. Years of marketing and copywriting training and its still been a struggle for me, my brain is super oriented towards the operations and systems and the how... But I am getting there slowly. I also really like the way David put it above, the FELT identity shift that the movement creates or even in the pre-sell, the FELT identity shift they believe they will get

You can NOT steer a parked car. Step ONE is getting in the car! Everything else is mental masturbation. Have you completed step one? "Yes?" "No?" "Doing it today?" Sound off 👇 Rooting For Ya, Travis PS I won’t hate it if you use my Skool affiliate link. https://www.skool.com/signup?ref=9466c32b019e4a9e9b972658159f50e8 But… I don't care if you want to join under my affiliate link or not. I don't care if you use Skool or not. I think Skool will make you $1000s of dollars more than any other community software (because of how it makes lead gen with Polls you can actually DM! No other community software does that, free or not.) ...but that's not the point right now! 👉I want you to take STEP ONE! Because your ODDS of success go WAY UP once you are actually behind the wheel. Rooting For Ya, Travis PS See the SHARE YOUR WINS category for all the peeps who are ALREADY ADDING NEW MEMBERS!

Done and have my first 3 members! 2 from FIRE fam and one from a FB post
I'm proud of you!
One of my Mojo Men pulled in $500k in a Rainmaker Campaign last week. It’s the 3rd or 4th Rainmaker for the same program. They've all been multi-six figures, but this is the best one yet. Also... A fellow Flame... @Andrew Hardin RIGHT HERE in CFM... Just started his first community. I am equally proud of both of them! They both confront challenges with courage, commitment and creativity. There is nothing a Mojo (Wo)Man can’t do with courage, commitment, creativity, collaboration and the right CAMPAIGN! I love the word ‘campaign’ because it wraps up all of those qualities in a neat package. Whether it’s losing weight, becoming a better writer, starting your 1st community or making $500k… …don’t “try” …run a full-on CAMPAIGN! There's nothing you can't do with the right CAMPAIGN! Get ‘er DONE!! I am proud of you for being here in CFM! Why? Because you're BUCKING the traditional personal finance programmed into us by Wall Street, banks and fund managers who WANT you to work hard and give THEM your money for THIRTY YEARS! OF course, they don't want you to touch it until you're in your 60s or 70s! They can't leverage YOUR MONEY if you don't put it into their fund, ETF or insurance product! They spend BILLIONS programming us. It's not simple to deprogram yourself. But... Creating your first community is like a "reboot". Then learn to run campaigns (I've gotta bunch) and before you know it, you're pulling in 6 figures with your community and "deprogrammed". I'm honored to be on this journey with ya! Rooting for Ya, Travis PS Thank you again for all your help spreading the word about CFM! We are 700+ members now. That's 700 Flames! That's 🔥😆 PPS and now @Lauren Hazel has her first 6 members! https://www.skool.com/community-fire-mojo-6715/got-my-first-6-members?p=4d6cfbf0
I'm proud of you!

I’ve wanted to do this for so long but I’ve been scared… honestly I’m still scared, so many thoughts come up about why I shouldn’t but I’m here and committed, this group is so awesome and proof of what is possible

@Janna Skroch oh I know it… I’ve been happily unemployable since I was 26 but most of the last 15 years has been building businesses that had employees and other attachments that often looked like another job. I walked though lots of fears doing that too But it’s funny how this thing is one I wanted to do but would always hold back even as I’ve helped others build communities for themselves… just wouldn’t take the leap myself. All in due time 💫
