I just got an email through from SSL about their new AI based dynamic plugins, link to the EQ here autoEQ and was wondering if anyone had either any experience of these or any thoughts on the use of AI in the mixing process, I am guessing that the plugin learns how you do things and then gives suggestions on how to improve what you currently have, I have had a lot to do with inference based learning in the past and not found the models created to be that effective so I am not sure if this will be any better, anyhow I will install the evaluation's and give them a go.

Nope. Anything that you have to: give up that much control over your work + your brain at the same time + stop learning + stop using your ears = NOPE. At present as well…I am concerned personally over how giving up THAT much control might impact copyright…if The Thing makes everything sound the same it IS the same as someone else’s work PLUS it could attach I don’t know…some weird digital artifacts, metadata or other encoding that could get someone flagged as someone else’s work. NOPE. just… NOPE.

Crossing With You

This is a song I wrote and produced and have mixed best I can (that is, finished is better than perfect?) according to the Foundation Method. It comes out about -8.5 I-LUFS but some sections are maybe -6. Let me know your opinion about whether it met the goals and is ready to submit to a mastering engineer. @Tom Baldwin RE: I think your balances and clarity need some more mix time before calling it ready for master time. That’s a good summary. After the event last week I understand to ask myself at least two questions: 1) Is this (mix) ready to master? 2) If not, why not?
