Hey everyone, A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an original composition for our Fix the Mix with Orchestral Tools. I’ve honestly been blown away by the responses. Many of you left comments, sent me DMs, or emailed me about it. To say thanks, I wanted to give the track, the stems, and the session a permanent home. 🔗 Song Assets: Download Link - My original mix - All the stems - The Logic Pro session (Thanks @Josh K for the idea) In Logic, you can press "H" to show hidden tracks and see all the MIDI behind the strings and orchestral parts, plus the automation I used to make the samples feel human and realistic: dynamics, expression, articulation changes, and plugin automation. If you don’t own the Orchestral Tools libraries, the instruments won’t load, but all the MIDI and automation will still be there to study and reuse. 🎵 Remix Contest I’m releasing Birth of Entropy under my tethermind project as a single on Friday, November 20, and I’d love to hear what you can do with the stems. - Remix: Any genre, any direction. I met Peter through our community when he brought a single to me for mastering. Soon after, he asked me to mix and master his whole album, Towards the Light. And I'm so grateful he did. From the first listen, I loved his music. It reminds me of the Beatles: so alive, warm, and full of soul. What stayed with me most was the intention behind every song and lyric. Peter wrote with purpose and heart. He was in France, and I'm in the US, so it usually took us full days to get back to each other, but every exchange was productive and fun. On our Zoom calls, I'd share my screen and walk him through what I was doing and why, and he'd give me thoughtful feedback. He knew when to push back with his artistic vision, and when to trust me, which made working with him so collaborative and fun. Halfway through the project, my wife and I were listening to his song When I'm Gone together. We both teared up and just looked at each other. I took a quick selfie of the two of us, smiling with wet eyes, and sent it to Peter to tell him how much his song had touched us. I'm so glad I did, I think it meant a lot to him. Music was one of many paths in Peter's life. He was an author and an avid traveller. This album still mattered deeply to him, and I feel honored that he let me be part of it. It's rare to become real friends with a client you've never met in person. I'm thankful for the friendship Peter and I built across all those miles. I'll be listening to his music again this week, and I hope you'll give it a listen too. Rest well, Peter. Luke Despain

I'd love to give a special shout-out to our newest membership mentor, Gemi Moon. Gemi recently passed certification in The Reverse Engineer (very difficult) and was asked to be a mentor for this community. Gemi is very talented in her own right, but she also has a lot of love and compassion for other musicians. If you book calls with her, you'll quickly find that she's not only helping you get better but also giving you a bit of joy and confidence in your day. She has that kind of energy! (I posted this in the Radio Ready Single channel, but also wanted to share here for the people who attend my Composition Calls) last night around 11pm I was playing the piano and came across this melancholic, kind of whimsical melody and chord progression. i started a live hangout in the members club channel to record and share the process. by about 2am I had written a short song with pianos, soft synths, layered strings, and a gradual build that, to me, feels like holding on to a fleeting moment. you know that feeling when you realize that something special is temporary and all you can do it just sink into that moment a little deeper? that's what this song started to feel like for me Let me know if you want me to drop a link to the full, un-hyperlapsed video of me making this, heads up it's long and kind of boring, but some of you may enjoy suffering through watching me compose this from scratch. with all the tools at our disposal for music generation, i hope we take the time to create things from scratch and let the creative process unfold naturally now and then, even if it takes longer.
