Following someone else’s trading idea is like borrowing an umbrella in a storm—it might keep you dry, or it might just blow away! 🌧️ Use it as guidance, but do your own research and put in the study before making a decision. If you don’t have the answer to why you enter or exit a trade, you probably shouldn’t be in it. Build your own strategy, something you actually believe in. That way, if you take a loss, it’s a ‘good’ loss—one you can learn from, not something you’ll regret. An old student of mine messaged me today, telling me that all the months of hard work he’d put into growing his account vanished in just a matter of days. He kept sizing in, over and over, but what really did him in was the lack of discipline to stop and control his emotions. Stories like this remind me of how people quit or hesitate to get a coach, as if they don’t need one. It doesn’t make sense to me. Professional athletes who have been at the top of their game for a lifetime have coaches. They have someone constantly correcting their form to keep them performing at their best. Even professional traders at hedge funds have therapists to help them maintain the right mindset—there’s an entire profession dedicated to this. I was a lazy student in high school, barely getting by. But when I went to college and had to pay for my own classes, you better believe I passed all my fucking exams. When you pay, you pay attention. Getting a coach or an accountability partner isn't just about someone teaching you a trading strategy. It's about having someone who can keep you on track and slap your hand if you're about to make a mistake. Our emotions can get the best of us, leading to mistakes that could blow up an entire account. So, my advice is simple: get someone to help you stay on track, whether you’re new or a seasoned pro—it doesn’t fucking matter. Invest in yourself, and get that daily guidance to stay sharp in your trading. Having this kind of accountability is one of the biggest differences you can make for your career.
