Noobie requesting some better ears and feedback please :)
Good afternoon all, It has been a while since I've posted on here, I found life running away from me a little, and sadly "hobbies" like Music Production have taken a bit of a back seat. I've also been the typical hobbiest in that it takes me 2 years to finish a song which I'm trying to change. I've put this together in a personal 3 week challenge (maybe still too long, but good for me). And this is what I came out with. The lyrics don't really flow so well, but I was trying to ensure the timeframe but more importantly the production as well as getting the mix / master right. Also.....I'm singing which is never a great thing, but if I can get me to sound half decent, I should be alright when it comes to getting good singers in! I would really love some feedback regarding production and mixing! Please be gentle :) Thanks in advance, and its great to be back in this community of super talented people! Cheers, Ian

I wanted to say a really really big thank you to everyone that gave feedback and advice! I was going to put this song to bed, but I think I'll rather take all the advice and see if I can get this better. The low end is a sustained double bass sound I liked and it sits under the entire track with a very slight tremolo and distortion. I totally agree regarding that cymbal! It is actually a percussive cymbal (as Berlin said!) and I couldn't figure out how to calm it down without messing up the percussive floor drums in that section. I've been looking at soothe but it was a little pricey for me, I just bought and installed smoother and I see what you mean it's great! I think that the low end issues are also around the lack of separation for some of the instruments that I have sitting there. I really wanted an orchestral kind of feel, but I'm very new to that :) and I currently really suck at mixing this well. As mentioned above, a Double Bass type sustain (using Logic Studio Bass + FX), Double Basses, cello, 2 x violins, viola and the flute acting as a synth (but these are pretty high). I probably need to go and look at Jakes EQ tricks to get rid of some of the frequencies so it opens it all up a bit. Busy watching Nathan Larsen's video :) Thank you again!!

New song - feedback needed please!!
Hey all, I haven’t got into mastering as yet and there are a few changes I would like to make to this song. But I’d really appreciate your feedback on this mix and song that I’m working on my first client (friend). All comments / crits etc welcome!! I would love for this to sound it’s best!! And I can always delve into production again if needed!! Thanks soooo much in advance!! Ian
NEED HELP!
Which mix do you prefer and why? Can't Get Back 1 Can't Get Back 2

Well done on the track!! I preferred the second one, sounded you used some dynamic EQ to bring your voice out of the mix which was really nice! I also found the second one more open and nicely balanced where as the first one I rocked out to it feeling like I was listening to it live and all a bit "together"..but hey I'm no pro so just offering my listening preferences :)
Vocals?
We're planning something special for next week 🙊 But before I let the cat out of the bag... What is your #1 struggle right now when it comes to vocal production (recording, editing & mixing)? Comment below and let me know. The more detail, the better!

@Jaraneh Nova finding that point where you can’t really hear the reverb vs sounding like they are over processed or in a toilet :)
