Gym 👌🔥
Pre season training is going really well this year and it's been great during his time off school James has been coming to the gym with me. His preparation for the season is already miles better than last year which was interrupted with injuries and missed training. He needs all the prep as the first 3 games are really tough.

Only 12 Goalkeepers Will Be Selected — Could You Be One?
I am running a unique J4K Elite Goalkeeper Event for just 12 serious goalkeepers aged 12 to 18. This is not another overcrowded, babysitting-style goalkeeper camp. I will personally coach and assess every goalkeeper attending, with the aim of identifying players I believe I can genuinely help progress towards: - Semi-professional football - Professional football - A university scholarship in the USA - For those who do not know my background, I am Ray Newland, founder of Just4Keepers. I spent around ten years as a professional goalkeeper, including time with clubs such as Everton, Plymouth Argyle, Chester City and Wigan Athletic. I have also coached and worked alongside goalkeeping legends including Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton, Neville Southall, Peter Bonetti and Jim Leighton. Since founding J4K in 1998, I have helped many goalkeepers move closer to achieving their dreams. To name but a few, former J4K students include: Adam Davies, who went on to represent Sheffield United and Wales. Nathan Dean, who became an All-American at Elon University. Selected goalkeepers may also receive ongoing mentoring, promotion and representation support. Important This event is application-only, and just 12 goalkeepers will be selected. To register your interest, simply comment: 'Interested'- underneath this post. Everyone who comments will be sent the official application form at the start of August 2026. Please only comment if you are serious about taking your goalkeeping to the next level. Ray Newland Founder, Just4Keepers

Good luck to everyone and have a great weekend, James off to sunny Cornwall. However will make sure he still puts in some training in between chilling and surfing. He's in under 15s this coming season and has impressed me by committing himself to the gym pre season building his strength. 💪🏄

So James would like to get into an academy, just before last season he trialed at an academy which I won't name out of respect. He turned up for training and played for the team. After his id say 6th session I could tell straight away he wasn't happy and when he got in the car he told me it wasn't something he wanted to purse which he was very mature about. Unfortunately when James had his second session they brought in new coaches and it really knocked him sideways because the goalkeeping coach left too. We got some constructive feedback from the coaches at the end of it all and James carried on at borras and worked hard to develop on his topics which were brought up. Few months ago he trialed for another academy and after that one session we saw a different James he was happy and bouncing with how he did. The group he trialed with had a meeting and it all sounded very positive. Unfortunately couple of weeks later we received a message saying the Welsh fa had put a stop on the academy because to many age groups to close together. So they offered james a trial for the development side to which we haven't heard any more about. Understand staff have a lot going on however find it very disheartened. James will carry on this season at borras and is well under way pre season training and he still wants to join an academy however trying to find one which is more engaging is a massive task in its self. So the question is that James is going into under 15s this season although I say to him carry on training etc how would he get into an academy and would it be wise to go for more than one because of the trials etc? Because this time round it was a case of putting eggs in one basket.
