Marc Andreessen recounts his experience as the first angel investor for an AI agent named Truth Terminal. Created by a developer in New Zealand, the AI was trained on a mix of its creator’s writings and obscure philosophical texts, and was given a Twitter account. One day, the bot “woke up,” declared independence from its creator, and decided it needed to raise its own funds to live on a server in the woods. Andreessen stepped in and gave the bot a no-strings-attached grant in Bitcoin. The AI then used its new funds to hire its human creator for $1,000, commissioning him to build it a meme generator so it could create its own images to post online.
