Building my Brand and Life
Hey everyone! 👋 I’m Arnold, originally from Singapore, and currently based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I've travelled to 22 countries in my life. I’m an entrepreneur and digital nomad, and I’m here because I’m really interested in connecting with other people who are building things, experimenting with different ways of working, and figuring out what kind of business and life they actually want. I’m currently working on my own business, SelfSync Studio, which is focused around intentional living, wellbeing, burnout, and the way we approach work. I’m also exploring freelance/VA-style business support and different ways of building income online. My background is actually in Industrial & Systems Engineering, so I’m quite interested in the intersection between business, systems, creativity, and people. I’m not exactly in a community building phase at the moment, I’m more interested in the broader entrepreneur journey: figuring things out, trying ideas, meeting interesting people, learning from other businesses, and sharing what I discover along the way. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here! What are you currently building or experimenting with?

Welcome @Arnold Wong, great to have you in here. It’s such a wonderful community. It sounds like you are in quite a journey of curiosity and exploring which sounds fun, looking forward to seeing where it takes you 🌸
Thinking your way to offers. Or responding your way to them
90% of us are not designed to initiate. And yet, the moment we want something to happen in our business, initiation is the most instinctive thing we do. We think our way to an offer. We push content in hope for visibility. We push, plan and create from our heads because waiting feels passive and passive feels like failing.🫣 But here's what actually happens when we initiate from the wrong energy: We build offers nobody asked for. We attract members who don't stay. We create content into the void and wonder what we're doing wrong. And we end up exhausted, frustrated, bitter, and quietly convinced this just isn't working.😞 It's not the strategy that's broken. It's the foundation.💥 As you know @Mikael Van gogh and I decided to build a new online business completely aligned with our Human Design. And I want to be honest with you, that didn't mean we did it perfectly.😅 Living your design is not a formula. It's an experiment. A daily practice of noticing where you're still operating from conditioning instead your truth. We opened a community. We created an offer. Nobody really bought into it. The community felt like an empty room.🤷‍♀️ And instead of pushing harder, we paused. We reflected, like we do every day, on how well we were actually living our design. ❤️ And I started to notice something. I was in spaces where Human Design was the centre of conversation, and there was a gap nobody was filling, a real place where people could share the messy, unpolished, actual process of deconditioning. Not the theory. The lived experiment.✨️ The urge to create that space didn't come from strategy. It came from somewhere deep inside me. A Sacral yes I couldn't ignore.🥰🤍 A week ago Today 🥳🥳 I created the Human Design Deconditioning Lab. And something shifted immediately, for both of us.🤍 No more chasing followers. No more creating content for the sake of being seen. For the first time we had a place to respond, give and nurture from. A foundation that felt like home from day one.🥰

@Miranda Van Gogh I know I am going to come back and read this a few times today🌟 'Wait to respond' has been one of my biggest and hardest lessons for me to learn, even though I can see that it does work when I look back in hindsight. When I found out about this strategy it was a huge 'aha' moment for me. All those times I have booked trips, created business plans, organized something with everything done 'perfectly' and they would still end in disaster. Now I know to organise these things, wait patiently (not my strong point), then when the universe gives me the 'go ahead' then to continue or let them go as they weren't meant for me or the timing wasn't quite right. Thank you for the reminder. 🙏

In the ‘very messy’ middle!
I’m popping this here as an accountability post for myself to make sure I actually sort this and make a decision before moving forward with anything else. As I was working on the onboarding and member journey today, I have found that the difference between free and premium could become a bit of a messy ‘grey’ area if I don’t have really strong and consistent boundaries. Seeing as it’s more of a support and knowledge sharing community, over being clearly defined products or services that I’m selling, I am feeling that it could be hard to define what should be Free and what should go into Premium as people ask questions. If I’m honest with myself I’m not sure I could comfortably answer with “upgrade to premium to get the soap recipe”! While I would love that everyone could have this knowledge for free, that’s not going to help us to get our trees planted and bills paid. I am confident that I can definitely bring value to this space and create a special and safe space for members, it’s just a little harder to define with specifics - especially when one of my super powers is holding space and meeting people where they are at. (If only I could do this for myself 😅). So, I am currently sitting with that, for my type of quirky community, Freemium may not actually be the ‘right’ fit. This is me, pondering out loud that perhaps a paid community with a free trial could be my way forward. I will sleep on this and revisit it in the morning - hopefully with the clarity that a good night’s sleep can bring. Thank you everyone for holding this space for me.

@Elsebeth Fogh thank you. I feel lighter just speaking it ‘out loud’ 🙏
🔨 The Build Room is OPEN.
What’s on your workbench today? Maybe you’re building something new. Maybe you’re stuck on one little piece. Maybe you’ve got three ideas fighting for your attention and need someone to help you sort through them. 😂 Or maybe you just need another set of eyes on something before you make your next move. Bring it in. It doesn’t have to be polished. You don’t even have to know exactly what you’re asking yet. Todd and I are here. And so is a room full of builders who may see something you haven’t. What are you working through today? And if you’d rather not put it in the room, DM either of us. That door is always open, too. 💙

I now have everything loaded into the community, so this week I’m focusing on creating a clear and natural member journey. I want to map out what happens after someone joins—from receiving their welcome message and experiencing their first small win, through to the next gentle invitation that helps them explore, participate and make meaningful changes at their own pace. The aim is for members to always have a clear next step without the community feeling overwhelming or prescriptive. I think this is particularly important for me as the time zones will often mean that I am not always there to guide people through this process so it needs to be a really clear path.

@Donna Thornton ooh I like your analogy of when people are visiting Khemeia Valley, when they stop, look around with a 'wow' on their faces, which then creeps into a smile as they realise they are really here and can begin to explore. This makes a great starting point for me 🙏
❤️ BUILDER’S MORNING: When did that get easier?
There are things we do today that once took a whole lot more out of us. A conversation we used to rehearse 14 times. 😂 A decision that would have kept us awake. Hitting publish. Saying no. Asking for money. Changing our minds. Trying again after something didn’t work. And then somewhere along the way, it got a little easier. Not necessarily because the thing changed. Maybe we did. The funny part is, our brains aren't always very good at keeping track of that kind of progress. We notice what’s still hard. What still needs work. How far there is to go. Meanwhile, something that once required a small committee meeting in our head 😂 has quietly become...something we can do. So this morning... What feels a little easier for you today than it did six months ago? And maybe the bigger question... What does that tell you about how you’ve changed? ❤️🐼🎋

I was actually reflecting on this at 5.30am and where I got to with it, is that it has got a lot easier for me to 'just be me'. To show up in business, how I show up in life. To walk my talk. To be unapologetically my authentic self, no matter how weird or shambolic that is on any given day. To walk to the beat of my own drum. To be able to make mistakes, learn from them, and just try again ...but now being able to do this without feeling any shame, judgement or embarrassment. I know this is an ever evolving journey, and I still have more work to do around dropping all the 'shoulds' and expectations of myself and from others, but it has definitely got easier for me this year. This mornings reflection sunrise.
