Financial Aid
Has anyone from the April 6th cohort received a disbursement yet? We are now due for our second one and all Mae ever tells me is the same shit about heightened monitoring causing delays. Has anyone actually talked to someone or received a timeline? I am starting to go into freak out mode because I am in financial dire straights after waiting over 3 months for something that shouldn't have taken more the 2 weeks to clear.

March 2nd cohort here, no disbursement at all, had to go through verification twice, had a Title IV to-do on Sat but I'm not holding my breath on anything anytime soon, yall will probably get yours before I get even one of mine. Good wishes to all! Keep learning and succeeding
Important Financial Aid Notice added to Information Center?
I don't monitor the information center daily, but after hearing about the COE Accreditation updates, I went back to that page and noticed this for the first time. Disclaimer: I'm not trying to fearmonger or spread negativity but I want people to know as much as possible. Especially when people are expecting, and in many cases desperately needing, disbursement deposits to come very soon. I'm one of those people. Anyways, it reads as follows: Maestro College recently received notification from the U.S. Department of Education that the institution has been placed on Heightened Cash Monitoring 2 (HCM2), an oversight and reimbursement funding method used by the Department for certain institutions participating in the federal student aid programs. This process increases the level of federal review associated with financial aid transactions. What This Means for Students: - Students remain eligible to receive federal financial aid if they meet all applicable eligibility requirements. - Federal Pell Grants, Direct Loans, and other Title IV aid programs remain available to eligible students. - Additional processing and documentation requirements may result in longer timelines for financial aid disbursements and refunds than students may have previously experienced. - Students may be asked to provide additional documentation if required for compliance purposes. Maestro College continues to work diligently with the U.S. Department of Education and its third-party servicers to process financial aid as efficiently as possible while complying with all federal requirements. Students are encouraged to monitor their email and financial aid communications regularly and to submit any requested documentation promptly to avoid delays. Questions regarding financial aid may be directed to the Financial Aid Office through the Student Services ticketing system. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these additional federal requirements. So I looked into HCM2, it means Maestro has to pay us those checks directly, then wait to be reimbursed. They have to have the money on hand every time they do a batch of disbursements. People took out up to $3000+ per term so it only takes hundreds of people for that to be 6-7 figures in a "batch." Maestro acknowledging delays in the information center says quite a lot. The Department of Education see it as incredibly risky to pay out those loans upfront now. At least until they pass their review. We'll just have to wait and see. Let's all hope!
