@Donna Conrad I like Here We Go round The Mulberry Bush. It’s supposed to be about the women and children imprisoned in Wakefield Prison who apparently sang this song on their daily exercise round the prison yard where there was a mulberry bush in the centre. I love that it shows then keeping their spirits up, I expect most of them were imprisoned just for being poor

@Glen Hutsell sailor was sometimes swapped out with shepherd. Growing up I always knew it as shepherd. Weather sayings are numerous and a lot of them still ring true today.
🎃 Halloween History Confusion
The history of Halloween (not Samhain), has always confused me. Yes, like many of you, i've done the research etc. However, I've always found so much conflicting information. (such is the joys of the interwebs). For the most part we know about pre-Christian beliefs. We know that Jack-o-lanterns were originally turnips, and didn't become pumkins until the holiday came to North America along with some other now current Halloween traditions. Mainly the majority of North Americans (to my knowledge) beleive that "Halloween" specifically has it's origins generally in the UK. As with our UK Members here, and I've also been told by other various friends i've had over the years that parts of the UK didn't celebrate Halloween when they were growing up. So, honestly, I'd love to hear from our UK and area Members about their experience of the history and origins of Halloween from their persepctive. @Hannah Semple @Chloe-louise Mason @Rachel Harmsworth @Iyaraa Iam @Gwynne Conlyn I'm sorry if i missed anyone, not everyone has listed where they are.

@Donna Conrad I’ve heard of the Lord of Misrule but I thought that was more to do with the revelling at winter solstice

@Donna Conrad oh I’ve never heard of that. I’ll ask around my Pagan Community and see what I come up with and let you know x Ok I’ve had a dig, historically The Lord of Misrule presided over the 12 days of Christmas and was introduced during the Tudor era, with origins in the ancient festival of Saturnalia. Over the years he has crossed cultural lines becoming associated with mischief at other festivals. When you think about it Jack Skellington in a Nightmare before Christmas is a reverse Lord of Misrule, presiding over Halloween but taking on Christmas.
Halloween / Samhain
What's your favorite Halloween or Samhain experience? I'll go first in the comments.

@Donna Conrad They both sound like wonderful times.

@Donna Conrad Halloween wasn’t really a thing in the UK when I was young and I’ve always done a solo ritual for Samhain which I call The Honouring. I do have a poem though.
