Monday Affirmation call
If you haven't been on Donna's Monday Affirmation call, I strongly recommend!! To give a little background, I dabbled in wicca over 20 years ago, met my love, and drifted away, just life stuff I think. Due to work stress, mental health, and some other factors, the last 12 months have been kind of awful. I made some decisions at the beginning of this summer, first I chose to leave a toxic job, next I chose myself, and third I chose to reallign almost everything in my life. In a manner it was like a tornano rolling through. It has been quite a process, and a large part of my focus has been getting back to my spirituality, finding my joy, and considering what I actually want my life to look like moving forward. Scary, exhillarating, nerve wracking, relief, and hope are only a few of the feelings of the last few months. Honestly, I found this group randomly, not really positive at the time that I wanted this to be part of my life pivot focus. The affirmation call has been AMAZING! Its a perfect way to start the week and keeps me focused and in the flow. There are lots of things happening and my rediscovered intuition just knows I am on the path I am meant to walk (the woodsy one with twists and turns and lots of nature 🤣). Thanks you SO SO MUCH @Donna Conrad for creating this community, I always feel welcomed and a part of, and I am learing so much.

🎃 Halloween History Confusion
The history of Halloween (not Samhain), has always confused me. Yes, like many of you, i've done the research etc. However, I've always found so much conflicting information. (such is the joys of the interwebs). For the most part we know about pre-Christian beliefs. We know that Jack-o-lanterns were originally turnips, and didn't become pumkins until the holiday came to North America along with some other now current Halloween traditions. Mainly the majority of North Americans (to my knowledge) beleive that "Halloween" specifically has it's origins generally in the UK. As with our UK Members here, and I've also been told by other various friends i've had over the years that parts of the UK didn't celebrate Halloween when they were growing up. So, honestly, I'd love to hear from our UK and area Members about their experience of the history and origins of Halloween from their persepctive. @Hannah Semple @Chloe-louise Mason @Rachel Harmsworth @Iyaraa Iam @Gwynne Conlyn I'm sorry if i missed anyone, not everyone has listed where they are.

@Hannah Semple Hhmmm, that's interesting.. My understanding was (and please correct me if i'm wrong), that due to Oct 31 / Nov 1 being the Pagan New year - based on it originally being the Celtic New year.. etc, that the time between sun down Oct 31, and sun rise on Nov 1st, was considered to "not exist". A time that is a not a time... and so technically what happened during that time.. didn't really happen. The Lord of Misrule would then enourage people to misbehave during that time, because after sunrise, their deeds no longer existed. But i can see how that could also relate to Yule / Winter Solstice.

@Hannah Semple OH!!!!!! YES!!!! OMG!!! I never thought of that. That makes so much sense. Thank you for looking into that and sharing what you came up with. I absolutely love getting new insight on previous knowledge. I will never look at Jack Skellington the same way again. I need to rewatch that movie now, with in mind. You are brilliant!

@Hannah Semple Wow, I did not know that about that one. Thank you for sharing. I'll have to go down that rabbit hole. Yes, that was probably the case unfortunately.

@Glen Hutsell I grew up with this saying from my grandparents. No, i don't collect them, it's just part of this weeks theme for October. I do find them interesting though.
