Hosting events is one of the most underrated business growth strategies
It's responsible for most of the good things that have happened in my career. Clients. Business partnerships. Friendships. Introductions. Connections. New opportunities. I’ve been hosting events for veterans for over 25 years. And over the past 2 years, I’ve hosted dozens of veteran events and brought together hundreds of people across the Houston veteran community. What I’ve learned is this: Most opportunities don’t come from posting online. They come from getting the right people in the same room. A handshake. A shared story. A random conversation. An introduction that turns into something bigger later. That’s why I believe every veteran entrepreneur should seriously consider hosting events that bring together: Your veteran community. Your industry. Your city. Your ideal customers. And the kinds of people you want to build relationships with. You don’t need a massive conference. Start small. Coffee meetup. Happy hour. Workshop. Dinner. Because when you become the person bringing good people together, everything changes. Your network grows fast. Trust builds faster. Opportunities move faster. In a world where everyone is fighting for attention online, hosting real-world events is becoming one of the biggest unfair advantages in business. The best relationships still happen face-to-face. Get out there and build the rooms that you want to be in.

Veterans Social
Hello All, I am hosting a veterans social this Saturday the 23rd. It will be held in Enfield CT at Odin's Keep Axe House. It is intended to bring active duty and veterans a like to socialize and make connections. We are providing free pizza, axe throwing and cornhole. Please bring family and friends. On top of that we are having a veteran owned brewery do a beer tasting, a charity that trains service dogs for vets, a mental health clinic that provides counseling to vets with PTSD, a Medicare consultant for our older vets and hopefully (once through compliance) representation from the VA to help veterans capitalize on their benefits. I have attached a flier with some of the information. If you are in this region we would love to see you and your families for a good time.

Looks like a great event for those in the area!
Navy needing a little help
Navy veteran Louisiana born native in Boston since out of service married over 21 years 4 kids 2 with special needs and 2 with medical conditions. Was in the construction world for years as a truck driver with a CDL A but doctor said for me to start looking for something different so I’m looking at starting my Louisiana themed food mobile business in the MA area. Me and an army buddy were the first veteran owned food truck in MA but you know Navy vs Army we butted heads a lot. Now looking at doing alone 70% service connected and life member of DAV and I do a ton of outreach here in MA for them and looking for the next step into this business Vision.

A fellow veteran here in Houston started out with a Philly Cheesesteak food truck who turned it into a restaurant and now they have a spot in NGR stadium “Philly Flats” https://www.phillyflatskaty.com
What books do you recommend for business?
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: Enjoyable read or audible book. Funny and sets perspective in life. How to Win Friends and Influence People: Classic and great to teach about communication with people. Nail it Then Scale it: Great business book for nailing the business model then scaling. Buy Then Build: Is a good book if you are looking to purchase an existing business. Crossing the Chasm: Tech based but can be for a company hitting flat sales after a successful launch. The 4-Hour Work Week: Are you looking to escape your W-2 job and start an owner absentee model? (I have more but these were my favorites this year)
